When the first coffeehouses opened up in the late 1800s, people in Fremont were getting their caffeine fix from local beans. The first coffeehouse in Fremont was called The Globe Coffee House and it was located on Stockton Street. In 1907, The Globe moved to its current location on Durant Avenue and began serving espresso drinks. By 1912, The Globe had also started selling coffee capsules which allowed customers to get their caffeine fix without having to leave their house. In 1935, The Globe Coffee House became a restaurant and continuedserving espresso drinks until it closed in 1984.
Fremont, California is a city in San Francisco County, California, United States. The population was 547 at the 2010 census. It is located on the west side of San Francisco and borders the city of Oakland to the east and north. Fremont became a town in 1856. The name Fremont comes from Spanish for "the place where there are fruit trees". The first Europeans to visit what is now Fremont were ranchers and missionaries who traveled across Sonoma County between 1829 and 1835. They brought plants back with them that would provide food for many years to come, including Mission Santa Clara de Asís (founded in 1776), which grew oranges until 1949. In 1868, gold was discovered near today's Hayward Fault in Contra Costa County; mining began immediately along the south side of the fault. With this new wealth came also new development, including two businesses which were founded by John Sutter: one called Jardine & Co., built a store atcurrent Depot Square and included an office building still standing; and another company named Sutter & Bancroft erected a mill on current Telegraph Avenue). In 1872–73 Edison established his laboratory here on El Camino Real just east of downtown; he used copper wires to create light bulbs here. By 1893 most electric lighting had been replaced by oil-fired lamps using glass globes suspended from wire hangers – an invention that would later be developed into lightbulbs! He also invented rechargeable batteries here in 1895. A severe fire destroyed much of downtown Fresno during 1906 earthquake; but because Fremont had no water system then, citizens took matters into their own hands and pumped out everyone's drinking water from wells! The city rebuilt quickly with public works projects such as bridges, sewers, schools and parks being among its top priorities. During World War II General George Custer's 4th Cavalry Regiment encampment was located adjacent to present day Golden Gate Park (near Masonic Temple) after they left Fort Bridgeman on November 12th 1945 while training at nearby Bridgepoint Arsenal Ammunition Plant #1 (now known as SAIC Corporation). There are several commemorative markers nearby including a bronze plaque depicting ammunition mules harvesting hay bales outside Fort Bridgeman Museum close by as well as metal plaques honoring these soldiers inside various park facilities around town- some still extant today!Shortly after WWII ended there started up again baronism within our society so we see throughout history numerous wars fought due largely to money interests rather than military victory or general honour etc... however during peacetime all bets are off when it comes to economic warfare so yes Fremont definitely has seen better days over the years given current events Unfortunately!!!
