Today Boeing remains an anchor tenant at their old site across from Golden Gate Park. However, with new technology dating back to 1846 making it easier to drive overland from Sacramento through Nevada into Oregon Territory, mining operations resumed in earnest around here during the mid-19th century; these days are called old salt mines because of their proximity to Salt Lake City. The arrival of automobiles made travel much easier during this time as well: residents could access jobs and goods near their homes without having to go all the way out to downtown Fremon
