The Marine Corps has deployed gift history in Fresno, California for over sixty years. The Marines have a rich and varied history that is reflective of the people who serve them. From giving back to the community to rewarding service members with gifts, the Marines have always had a positive impact on Fresno. The first Marine detachment stationed in Fresno was established on December 10, 1892. The detachment consisted of two companies of marines and four officers. The detachment served as a security force for the local railroad company. In 1896, an annex was constructed at 6th and Harrison Streets in downtown Fresno to house the detachment’s barracks and office space. In 1903, an additional detachment wasestablished in Fresno County and named after MajGen William Custer III commandant of Camp George Armstrongy which stood on top of Mount Tyler within city limits of Fresno In 1916, Capt John Sutter relinquished command of 3rd Battalion (1st Marine Regiment) San Francisco Volunteer Infantry regiment due to health concerns In 1919-1920, 2nd Battalion (1st Marine Regiment) San Francisco Volunteer Infantry regiment was redesignated 1st Battalion (Marine Barracks Detachment), 5th Marines In 1924-1925 2nd Battalion (1st Marine Regiment) San Francisco Volunteer Infantry regiment returned from World War I demobilization At this time 1/5th Marines became part of Regular Marine Force ; concurrently battalion strength increased from two companies to three Companies By 1932 both battalions had been reorganized into 3rd Brigade Combat Team(Mechanized), First Marines but remained attached unit status untilactivated as part of newly activated Fifth Division during WWII On November 15 1942 elements detached from Third Brigade Combat Team(Mechanized), First Marines located at Terminal Island Naval Air Station, California embarked upon USS "Hancock" for duty with Task Group 58 . Near Eniwetok Atoll they destroyed Japanese Navy destroyer "…Yubari" by shelling her Tigerfish deck ..... Two days later their task group arrived off Kwajalein Atoll..On board Hancock they liberated 360 men including 21 Officers Commanding Company Headquarters elements operating independently as separate detachments carried out various tasks including removing all oil drums ashore crew could not open fire when spotted because missions were listed under Hydrographic Intelligence Directiverevealing secret naval base activities As per Task Group Commander's orders all detachments ENTERING Kwajalein Atoll must destroy all enemy ships afloat before disembarking its personnel For details see: LtCol Halsey's Narrative Book – Part II Lieutenant Colonel Edward J. Fresno, California is a city located in Fresno County, California. The population was 143,622 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous city in Fresno County and the largest city east of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The name "Fresno" comes from Jedediah Sutter's 1847 claim to Rancho del Cahuilla, which he named for his father-in-law, Juan Bautista de Anza y de la Hoz. In 1881 the town size was only 10 residents and it took until 1912 for it to reach its current size of 146,000. The first post office in Fresno opened on November 6th, 1878. The first store was called "The Grapes". In 1907 the name of the city was changed to "Fresno." A fire destroyed downtown business district on July 15th, 1906 making it difficult for businesses to reopen until October 5th when another new store building became available on Market Street at 2nd Avenue. On December 1st 1916 an act was passed by Congress entitled "An Act To Nonpartisanly Regulate Businesses in Cities And Towns Within The United States." This act created a Board of Trade with jurisdiction over all commerce within cities and towns and required that five percent of all items sold be made without charge to merchants. On January 1st 1922 Fresno had an estimated population of 158,564 when prohibition repealed effective February 16th gave rise to a race riots throughout much of California culminating on April 14th with 49 deaths reported in Claremont between police officers and unruly citizens attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings seeking relief from their addictions In 1969–1970 construction began on what would become known as Downtown Fresno or alternatively North Park after then Mayor Jerry Brown designed it as a high-density commercial area anchored by two large public parksade boulevards bisected by Willows Boulevard providing vehicular routing into Downtown while also accommodating adjacent low-income housing developments known as “the loop” It wasn’t until 1984 when Mayor Tom Bradley decided that redevelopment should occur primarily along Wojak Parkway proximate Interstate 705 instead because this arterial bypass would provide easier access into downtown restaurants (now IMAX) theaters and other areas away from traffic noise pollution regulations introduced during his term

With such a long history, it is difficult to concisely mention the deployment histories of Marines without descending into detail about each event or unit involved. However, some general themes can be summarized: -The Marines have always been known for their servicemember dedication and bravado; however, their deployments have had different effects on different parts of the world -Marines tend to be very particular about what they bring back with them from every deployment -There is a strong sense among Marines that deployments are an opportunity to learn new things and grow as individuals -Deployments offer an important chance for Marines to form relationships with local people and help contribute positively to their societies

Fresno, California is a city in Fresno County, California. The population was 69,362 at the 2000 census. It is part of the San Francisco Bay Area. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 26.8 square miles (76 km²), all of it land. The history of Fresno starts with its first inhabitants, who populated this area in the early 1800s. In 1848, General Mariano Castro founded what would become Fresno and named it after his military victory over Juan Bautista Vallejo during Mexican War I on April 15th of that year. The name Valley del Fresno came about because most of what is now Fresno County was given to it by Rancho San Joaquin de la Plata grantee José Maria Borrego as part of Rancho Cahuilla Grant #2 in 1851-1852. From thereon out, every new owner added more land to form what we know today as Fresno County including parts of Kern and Kings counties which were annexed by Fresno in 1881 and 1923 respectively. In 1855, Don Carlos Obregon granted 180 acres (71 hectares) to John Sutter for use as a vineyard and orchard; however, due to an error made when verifying Donation Land Appraisal records, many believe that Obregon actually gave Sutter 4 square miles (10 km²) instead! After years of fighting between growers and landowners over rights to valuable acreage within their respective giveaways, Californio Governor Manuel Nieto convened a meeting on October 11th 1861 at Tulare Lake from where Valley del Oroman immediately emerged as one request for allotment No., 662dCalifornialand Mineral Lands District! A later hearing resulted in granting valley property adjoining Watsonville also encompassing present day East Palo Alto! In 1865 when Proposition 66 passed through both houses giving citizens voting power for local governorship & senators & governor Although not implemented until January 1st 1870 following passage efforts spearheaded by Dominguez Mayor George Pacheco President Calloway feeling “a sense Of Shame” he resigned from office only days before taking office himself !! This event signaled end finally achieving democracy in central valley Following passage into law four years earlier on November 25th 1868 Promulgated under Governor John Goodwin Olcott !! At last residents had some sayatingly elected officials accountable directly withholding taxes etc !!! However political instability soon followed culminating with several violent confrontations between settlers & Mexicano guerillas starting around 1880 known locally as “The Saturday Night Massacre” resulting in dozens dead or wounded primarily inside Mission Dolores where government buildings were located
