The town was first settled by Mexicans who arrived in 1857 from Chihuahua, Mexico. At first, most fullers were cattle ranchers who drove their animals through what is now Fullerton City Limits on their way to missions near Pasadena or into what is now Imperial County. However, as more settlers appeared in this part of Los Angeles County they began to subdivide their land into tracts and sell it off for farming purposes or to build homes. In 1872 John C. Fullerton moved from his farm north of Pasadena to start a small business importing goods from China which he named "China Importing Company". This company became one of America's largest exporters of goods during the late 19th century; it exported items such as coal, rice, chickens (later developed into turkeys), textiles, metals (including silver), lumber, shoes and other products from Asia across the Pacific Ocean. The First Methodist Episcopal Church was founded in Fullerton on December 13th 1865 by Revs Elisha Bogan (1815-68) and James Barbour (1800-64). The church served as an interim location until a permanent building could be erected on Olive Avenue adjacent to what would become Good Shepherd Baptist Church today. A post office called "Good Shepherd" opened at this location on October 15th 1876; it continued operation until 1914 when it changed its name to "Fullerton." In 1907 William Sanger opened his movie theater atangles Park which became one of Southern California's most popular theaters with attendance topping 100 thousand per week by 1916! In 1916 Charles Fenton took over management duties for Sanger's theater chain which continues today under the brand names Regal Cinemas & Entertainment Centers throughout Southern California - including both full screen 2D/3D theaters as well as IMAX 3D screens! The early 20th century saw another boom period for Fullerton with new businesses opening up such as golf courses and pet shops; however during World War II things got tough with few jobs available after Pearl Harbor but fullerians did manage to contribute much directly towards helping war effort through production work at munitions factories like Lockheed Martin plants! Afterward there wasn't any major economic growth until recent decades when various aspects such as technology transfer brought about increased development opportunities especially within gaming industry making Fullerton one of leading Silicon Valley tech hubs!
