In 1887, Galt, California was the first town in the San Francisco Bay Area to start brewing coffee. The Beans of Galt had a direct connection to the beans that were roasted in Italy and Spain. This unique flavor profile is what set these beans apart from other coffees that were being brewed at the time. The history of artisan coffee goes back even further than that. In 1846, two German-American brothers named Christian and Wilhelm Pfeiffer started a small farm near Galt with their family. They grew coffee and madeMarket Garden Coffee Koffee for sale throughout the area. In 1886, they sold their farm to John D’Andrea who founded Andrade Coffee Roasters. Andrade was one of the first companies to roast whole bean coffee in their own roasting rooms in downtown Galt. Since its inception, Andrade has been an important player in the industry. They have donated millions of dollars to various organizations such as Sustainability International and Children's Health Foundation – both philanthropic efforts that help improve global health outcomes for children. Their coffee is also enjoyed by people all over the world, including Starbucks who credit them with providing “the perfect blend of caffeine and flavor” during their café visits around the world!

The first coffee shop in Galt, California was the Coffee Shop on Main Street. The Coffee Shop opened in 1965 and served coffee until 1978. In 1978, the Coffee Shop was bought by Donny & Marie’s Cafeteria and reopened as Donny & Marie’s Coffee House. The Coffee House closed in 1984, but was re-opened as a coffee shop in 1988. In 1995, Donny & Marie’s Café closed again and was replaced by the current incarnation of the Traditional Roastery which opened in 2000.
Galt is a small, unincorporated community in the San Joaquin Valley of California. It was founded in 1867 by George Galt, an entrepreneur and cattle rancher who also started the nearby town of Rancocas. Today Galt is a small town with a population of around 100 people. The community has two churches and one school. Galt is located about 21 miles east of Stockton on State Route 99. George Galt's original purpose for founding GALT was to provide transportation between his ranching operations and other businesses in the area. Eventually, however, GALT became known as a center for agriculture because it had the best irrigation system in the region. In addition to its agricultural capabilities, GALT served as a popular stopping place for travelers on their way from Sacramento to Yolo County or from East Bay City in Richmond to Stockton. The first post office at GALT was established in 1868, and continued operation until 1870 when it was moved to Rancocas. The second post office at GALT opened in 1871 and continued operation until 1893 when it was moved to Rancocas Junction due to reported difficulties with mail delivery there. The opening of the Central Pacific Railroad through central California hastened development at GALT, which became an important stop on that railroad's route throughout much of California during the early 20th century. One prominent resident of this time was banker Atherton Rockefeller who built his home at 4341 Main Street near what is now Lodi High School after moving from New York City in 1913 following World War I efforts by then-President Woodrow Wilson (R). In 1940 John Lennon attended high school here before beginning his career as an artist working for Moondog Productions Inc., later Apple Records Ltd., where he worked from 1965-1970 including producing Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album which helped make him one of world famous musicians during that time period according to music historian Timothy Findlay . From 1971 until his death aged 64 years old on 8 December 2008 Lennon lived ashore off Lennons' property along with Yoko Ono while continuing work for Apple Records Ltd.. His ashes were interred next to those of Ono outside the walls of their childhood home inside what used once been Lodi Senior High School gymnasium
