Air Force gifts have been a part of Gardena's history for over 50 years. The first military gift to the community was an airplane, which arrived in 1947. Air Force pilots and airmen donated their time and equipment to improve Gardena's infrastructure. In 1978, the California Air National Guard's 149th Fighter Wing transferred from Sacramento Airport to Gardena Municipal Airport. This donation allowed the city to offer FAA-licensed fly-overs of New Year's Celebrations at City Hall. The 146th Wing, stationed at Palmdale AFB, relocated to Gardena in 1990 and has since become one of the city’s most popular facilities with its wide variety of aircraft operations and events. The current skyline view from Kingman Drive in Gardena is due in large part to donations by local businesses and individuals who appreciate what the Air Force does for our country. A number of organizations have contributed significant sums of money towards various aspects of the city's recreation including: $10 million given towards construction of new town hall; $5 million raised annually for city parks; and more than $2 million given towards support functions such as firefighting, Streetscape restoration, watermain replacement projects, public safety initiatives such as traffic control technology modifications and other law enforcement changes.

It became the Los Angeles Air National Guard Station in 1945 and then the Irvine Air National Guards Station in 1948. The Gardena station was redesignated Headquarters, California ANG on May 1, 1951 and became an airlift wing on July 1, 1953. On October 3, 1955 it became a Bombardment Wing when Headquarters, California ANG was redesignated as the United StatesAAF Eighth Bomber Command. Inactivated on January 2, 1957 as part of the reductions following the Truman administration's plan for defense budget cuts.

The city became a center for agriculture and wine production following the Gold Rush of 1849. Gardena was incorporated as a town in 1907. The city had a population of 100,000 by 2030. The economy of Gardena has been focused on the production of agricultural products such as fruits, vegetables, and flowers since the early twentieth century. In recent years, however, the city has become increasingly popular with tourists for its scenic views and cultural attractions. GARDENA: A CITY OF culture AND OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES One of the most interesting aspects about living in Gardena is that there are so many different types of activities to partake in outside of just being a residents! There are numerous festivals happening each year that keep everyone’s attention (or at least my attention) including music festivals (like West Coast Folk), art shows (like CAVE Museum), eco- events, hikes/ walks etc., it really depends on what you want to do! It also maintains an extensive research and development program to maintain its dominance in the air forces realm. In addition, the USAF provides training to millions of American citizens, helping them become leading members of today’s global society. In recent years, however, there have been some troubling issues with the USAF. These problems stem from budget cuts and lack of progress made by those within the organization. This has caused many member countries to distance themselves from the USAF, making it difficult for it to continue its dominant position inair warfare. Despite these challenges, though, the USAF remains a vital part of America’s defense system and is poised for continued growth in future years.

Gardena, California is a small town located in the Kern County area of Southern California. It has been populated by Anglo-Saxon and Native American people for over three centuries. The first white person to live in Gardena was James P. Willis, who arrived in 1853. He named the community after his family's garden near London, England. In 1870, Samuel Morse located a post office in Gardena and brought the first mail service to the area. In 1916, Gardena became an incorporated city and experienced its first population growth when families from nearby Bakersfield moved into the town. Many of these new residents were farmers or ranchers who grew crops and raised animals on their properties. By 1970, however, most of the acreage within Gardena had been developed as housing subdivisions or businesses such as banks and grocery stores moved in to take advantage of the growth that had occurred there since then. Today, Gardena is known for its annual Rose Festival which attracts tens of thousands of people from around Southern California each year during late May through early June. The festival features more than 30 different types of roses from all over the world and takes place at several sites around town including Old Town Square Park and Main Streetblockade Plaza where colorful Roses are displayed throughout the week before they are auctioned off at various venues throughout downtown during Friday night's event climaxing on Saturday morning with a parade through Downtown streets culminating at City Hall Plaza where many Roses are given away to flowers lovers attending local schools during Sunday morning services lasting until lunchtime before returning home for dinner Tuesday evening prior to hosting their next Rose Festival event Wednesday morning which sometimes coincides with a regional fair held in nearby Tulare County)
Gardena is a city in the San Bernardino County, California, United States. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 66,610. Gardena was established on December 26, 1887 by S. E. Park and Wm. L. Stevenson as Garden City. It was named for George Gardena, who had donated land to the town site on which it would be located. The original town site was at present-day Winchester Boulevard and Springdale Avenue in what is now downtown Gardena
