The Glendora Army Depot was located inGlendora, California from 1942-1945. This depot was responsible for the manufacturing and distribution of materiel to the United States Armed Forces. The depot was closed during the 1945 American Civil War due to budget cuts. In 1944, the Glendora Army Depot opened its doors again after being closed for a year. It manufactured and distributed military supplies such as ammunition, clothing, vehicles, etc. In 1945, it ceased operations due to budget cuts once again. However, this time it wasn't because of war-related expenses but because of budgetary concerns within the United States government caused by World War II ending. The closure of these facilities didn't mark the end of military supply distributorship in Glendora; on the contrary, it signaled a new era where local businesses took control and made their own decisions about what they produced and how they marketed their products. The Military Supply Depot which operated from 1942-1945 in Glendonura is now known as The Global Regional Center for Defense Manufacturing (GRCDM). As part of GRCDM's mission statement is "to create opportunity for small businesses throughout Southern California" through economic development initiatives such as job training and marketing assistance programs that target rural small business owners with fresh perspectives on defense manufacturing opportunities in order to increase demand for goods exported domestically. Since its inception in 2002 GRCDM has become a destination destination for individuals seeking information about defense manufacturing opportunities throughout Southern California; hosting nearly 150 events each year that attract more than 2,500 attendees from industry sectors including technology startups, manufacturers/distributors/service providers (SDSPs), government contractors/procurement agents representing various agencies involved withdefense procurement process
