In 1925, Clarence White donated 8 acres (3 ha) north of Main Street which became downtownGlendale with an underground water system that could bring fresh water upslope from nearby springs all summer long; this provided much needed economic stability during hard times during those years when surface water supplies were scarce or unreliable

In 1957, Glendora became incorporated into Los Angeles County and has been continuously growing ever since.
