However these efforts did not prevent Starbucks from expanding into new markets such as China,[f]the Middle East,[g][h][i][j]Brazil,[k]Australia[l],[m]New Zealand[n],[o],India[p],[q],[r],[s]'the Philippines', Fiji Islands,[t], Dominican Republic,[u], Argentina's Río Negro province,[v], Paraguay's Asunción district centred on Asunción'—all countries outside Of The U.S.—and eventually opening over 350 stores globally with plans to open 2 million more before 2020 alone!

Goleta is a city in Los Angeles County, California. It is the seat of Kern County and was incorporated on November 3, 1887. The population was 113,821 at the 2010 census. Goleta is part of the Greater Los Angeles Area and is included in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The first European sighting of Goleta occurred on December 3, 1769 when José Gabriel de Anza Expedition passed through present-day Goleta while attempting to explore Santa Catalina Island. Captain Blanco reported finding " sidelong rocks [ positioned] about four leagues from this place" during his trip on February 4, 1770; however, he did not stop to investigate because of the rough terrain and instead continued his journey northeastward. On October 1, 1847 Gaspar de Portolà discovered land that would become Goleta (then known as Rancho San Fernando). James Humboldt recommended that Mission Santa Margarita be founded near what would become Goleta because there were ample water sources nearby for crops and Missions needed someone to watch over them due to concerns about Indian raids. The original mission site was located near wherepresent-day downtown Goleta stands today; however it was moved due to increasing Mexican settlement around it in 1851 after Mexico ceded control of California to United States following the Mexican–American War. In 1865 rancho holder Don Francisco Sanchez sold 8 square miles (20 km²) east of town for $5,000 cash to Pio Pico who donated it back to the Catholic Church as part of Rancho La Purísima Concepción del Monte y la Sillería grants given out by Governor Antonio José Del Valle during his visit to Southern California in 1865. In 1881 Pope Leo XIII designated Sacramental City status for Goleta and established a parish there with Fray Pedro Romero as its first pastor under title Patrician Dei Serviensis Californiae Ecclesiae Pastoribus diocesee Southern Californiaensis et.. On April Fool's Day 1886zonato filed an application with then-Governor Alvaro Obregón seeking annexation into Obregon's state government but no action was taken until 1896 when Ulysses S. Today's city boundaries extend northwestward along High Street past Harbor Boulevard towards downtown and southeastward along Pacific Coast Highway towards Yorba Linda

Coffee soon spread to North America where it continued to grow in popularity until the late 19th century when Prohibition led to its decline in most countries around the world. The town of Goleta, California was founded in 1873 by the arrivals of the railroad. The original settlers were Mexican Californios who had been driven from their homes in central Mexico during the Mexican Revolution. The town quickly grew and soon became a major commercial center for the surrounding area. By 1907, Goleta had become a city with a population of over 100,000 people. Goleta's history is intertwined with that of its neighboring community of Monterey. Both towns were established as agricultural communities early on in their histories and continue to be so today. Today, Goleta is known for its beautiful landscape and rich history, while Monterey has become known for its delicious seafood and historical landmarks. One of the most significant events in Goleta's history took place when it was chosen as the site for America's first high school – San Francisco High School (now SF State University). The school was built on land donated by grazer John Cascio and opened in 1922. In 1924, Goleta also became home to California's first college – Pomona College – which helped contribute to the town's growth into an important regional center. Today, Goleta continues to grow as an important cultural and economic hub in Northern California. In 1847, California was acquired by the United States from Mexico. The area that is now Goleta became part of the newly founded state of California on January 3, 1850. On October 14, 1851, a group of seceded Mexican villages and towns gathered at Rancho San Luis Rey to declare themselves independent of Los Angeles. The town of Goleta was founded as the first settlements in what is now Goleta County. The town’s first post office opened in 1852 and used the name “Golita” until 1862 when it changed its name to “Goleta” after General José Joaquín de Vallejo, who had become acting governor during the crisis over Mexico’s acquisition of California. In 1861, hostilities escalated between Arizona and Minnesota following their respective claims to what are now southern Oregon and northern Nevada. On February 14th 1862, General Vallejo ordered all forces in California under his command to cross Sonoma River into Nevada in order to help protect Arizona from possible attack by Minnesota forces. This move thrust Goleta into conflict with both Arizona and Sacramento over who should control what portion of California which lay within their respective boundaries. Ultimately, Sacramento won out and Goleta remained an unincorporated community until it merged with other nearby communities on November 6th 1865 under a new name: Agricultural Colony (now Agua Dulce).
