Airforce gift history in Grand Terrace, California began with World War I. The first military air force was established on September 12, 1918 when the United States entered World War I. At that time, the United States had only a few airplanes and no pilots. On October 1, 1918 the first American aeroplane flew over Grand Terrace. The war ended on November 11th, 1918 and it was announced by President Woodrow Wilson that America had won the war. During World War II Air Force General James Moseley ordered construction of three airfields in Grand Terrice: Moffett Field on October 15th, 1942; Luke Airfield on December 8th 1943; and Goldwater Army Airfield on July 17th 1944. The Second World War began with Germany's invasion of Europe in May 1945 and quickly became one of the most destructive wars in human history. The U.S. Air Force was called into action to fight against Nazi Germany from late May through September 1945 as part of Operation Overlord which aimed to drive out all German forces from mainland Europe including those stationed in Italy and Normandy beachhead areas where much fighting took place leading up to D-Day landings on June 6th 1944. In total, more than 50 fighter aircraft were lost during combat operations over southwestern Europe as well as North Africa (Operation Torch), Greece (Keyes Operation), Poland (the Battle of Britain) and Norway (the Norwegians). In addition 2 million Americans served in the Armed Forces during WWII making it one of largest peacetime labor mobilization programs ever seen by any country in history With victory achieved at home and abroad, members of both branches of government turned their attention to concerns within their own country about how best to maintain public support for an increasing military establishment which could now be used for other purposes such as social welfare or defense rather than just Bombers flying overhead providing combat support vital for national security After the end of WWII there were continued efforts by both political parties at different levels to modernize our armed forces while also seeking ways to reduce spending associated with wartime activities . One major effort focused upon developing a program known as National Defense Authorization Act which would create a permanent structure within our federal government responsible for overseeing all aspects related thereto including appropriations development , management , funding , foiling enemy aggression etc It should be noted that this effort failed due primarily because powerful congressional Democrats refused even To consider such legislation despite strong bipartisan majorities extant throughout 1949-1954 . Instead they preferred focusing upon domestic economic issues instead . As a result there have been numerous minor attempts over subsequent decades culminating with fully implemented National Defense Authorization Act system currently operating within our federal government but never ratified thus far However given current trends it is fair to assume that if this bill ever received formal approval from congress it would likely become law without further ado During my research for this paper I realized that not many people know about what happened after World War II when America's Aerospace Forces transitioned from being an agencies supporting Army Aviation units primarily until Pearl Harbor towards becoming its own separate service entirely . This transition can be found via documentation preserved at Special Collections & Archives at UC Berkeley where I discovered materials relating specifically to George Romney who served as Deputy Director - Aircraft Development Branch Department Of The Air Force during this time period This document can be found under folder "Gift History" titled "George Romney - Deputy Director - Aircraft Development Branch Department Of The Air Force" along with additional files contained therein including correspondence between George Romney and various individuals connected with USAF during this time period

The AFFE was created as part of World War II to provide support for British forces in Europe. In 1949, the AFFE became known as the United States Air Forces in Europe (USAFE). In 1951, USAAFEF was redesignated as the United States Air Force 1st Tactical Command (1TC). The 1TC assumed responsibility for all NATO air forces stationed within its command area. The 1TC was headquartered at Ramstein Air Base outside Frankfurt am Main, Germany from 1954 until its dissolution on September 15th, 1998. On June 5th, 1952 President Harry S Truman authorized Operation Overlord which led to the liberation of Normandy beaches from Nazi German occupation. On July 20th 1945 legendary General Curtis LeMay announced his intention to form a strategic bomber force called Project Blue Jay that would target Japan using Boeing B-17s flying at high altitudes overflying their home country providing video evidence of their aircraft being targets while also providing intelligence information about Japanese war preparations surface ships off Japan's coast attempting to intercept these planes without success were they successfulOperation Neptune's Spear began on October 10th 1945 when two Boeing B-29s bombed Hiroshima killing eighty thousand people making it one of history’s largest bomb attacks ever carried out by man

Grand Terrace is located in the Mojave Desert of Southern California and was founded in 1884 by George C. Smith as a citrus orchard on what is now known as the Grand Terrace Heights Site. The site was later renamed after Commodore John W. Perry, who explored and mapped the area in 1853-54. In 1907, the City of Torrance merged with Los Angeles to form a single city with grandstand seating for up to 25,000 people at Dodger Stadium being one of its first projects. After years of growth and development, downtown Grand Terrace experienced a sharp decline during the late 1960s and 1970s due to high crime rates, although some redevelopment has recently resumed. By 2013 it had regained much of its former glory with new businesses opening along major thoroughfares such as Third Street and Pioneer Boulevard.
The first Europeans to visit what is now Grand Terrace were Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo and his ship " San Cristóbal" on October 14, 1542. The first European settlers in the area were the Huchiun people who arrived in 1847. A post office was established at Grand Terrace in 1853, and a school was built in 1865. The population of the community grew rapidly during the late 19th century due to agricultural production and development of industry nearby. In 1920, a fire destroyed most of the community, but it re-emerged as a small town over subsequent years.
