In 1915, Donners youngest son John Dornberger started a new business called Gourmia Coffee Co., Incorporated to produce Italian-style espresso drinks named after prominent Italian families in Grand Terrace. In 1966, Gourmia Coffee was acquired by Starbucks Corporation. At Starbucks, Gourmiacoffee continued to be produced until 2000 when it was sold to Nestlé SA for $1 billion. Grand Terrace is located in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles County, California. The population of Grand Terrace was 7,521 at the 2010 census. It is a small town with a large single-story shopping center that is home to several small businesses and two churches. The population density was 518 people per square mile. The town began as a cattle ranch and agricultural community. In 1887, General Arthur MacArthur purchased the land which makes up today's Grand Terrace from the original owners for $1,000. He named it after his father-in-law, General James MacArthur who had been instrumental in ending Mexican slavery in California. The first store opened in 1886 on Main Street between First and Second Streets. In 1907, John Waddell built what is now known as the Old Post Office on Third Street between Tenth and Eleventh Streets - this building served as both a post office and meeting place for local farmers until 1922 when it was replaced by Grand Terrace School District Headquarters Building (now part of City Hall). In 1916, Harry Laughlin built an addition to his grocery store on Main Street which became known as "Laughlin's Hall" or simply "Hall". In 1939, Lester Soderlund started construction on what would become one of the largest homes ever built in Grand Terrace – he called it "The Home That Could". When completed, it featured six stories with its own underground garage and swimming pool. Today's home still stands but has been used as a nursing home since 1982. Some of the most famous people associated with Grand Terrace include actor Al Jolson (who lived here from 1923 until his death in 1938), businesswoman Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis (born into an old Italian family here), singer Neil Diamond (whose parents were born and raised here), author Beverly Cleary (whose mother grew up here), actress Jane Fonda (brought up here by her grandparents before moving to New York City), entertainer Mickey Rooney (grandson of Fred Trump)

Grand Terrace is a small town in Imperial County, California. It has been home to the same people since 1853. The original homesteads were located on the east side of the creek that now forms Grand Terrace Avenue, and later on the west side. The community was named after an old rancho called Rancho Grande de San Bernardino which was situated on a hill above present-day Grand Terrace. Rancho Grande de San Bernardino was founded by mission priest Father José Gomez in 1769 and it became part of Rancho Santa Clara de las Humboldt Mission District in 1834. The first post office opened in 1851, and it remained in operation until 1918. In 1868, a school district was organized for all of California and Rancho Grande de San Bernardino became part of it. The population of Grand Terrace grew rapidly from its early days as a small farming community to over 6,000 residents by 1906 when it joined the city of Angels annexed into Los Angeles County. However, because agricultural production had become increasingly difficult due to competition from new citrus growing areas outside of Los Angeles County, ranchos were sold off one by one throughout most of this period;grand terrace remained largely rural until well into World War II when many families moved to nearby cities such as West Covina or Garden City for work during war production shortages elsewhere in California. However, even during wartime years there continued to be significant industry within town limits with several large businesses including Kresson's Paper Company manufacturing paper products and General Electric manufacturing turbines used for farm power generation; these companies would continue operations long after war ended although some closed down completely while others went through various restructurings before becoming defunct again.
