Throughout its years as an active harbor community, Grand Terrace has been home to many warships including two battleships – USS Oklahoma (BB-57) and USS Texas (BB-48). The city also hosted three presidential inaugurations including Ulysses S. Grant’s inauguration on April 12th 1868 and Woodrow Wilson’s inauguration on February 2nd 1913. In addition, it was also home to various military engagements such as World War II which took place here between 1942-1945; Operation Neptune’s Spear during Vietnam; Desert Storm in 1991; Hurricane Katrina in 2005; and Typhoon Haiyan in 2013!

Grand Terrace is a small town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 3,821 as of 2010. It lies on the eastern edge of the Mojave Desert and is bordered by Yucca Valley to the east, Laughlin to the north and east again by Agoura Hills. The first European settlers arrived in 1849 from New Mexico. By 1860, there were twenty-four people living in Grand Terrace. In 1862, a post office called "Terrace" was established and remained in operation until 1906. In 1871, when San Bernardino County was created from part of Kern County, Grand Terrace became part of that county. The population increased rapidly during the 1870s and 1880s due to influxes of railroad workers and farmers coming to work on newly built railways. Railroads brought new industry and commerce to town which helped spur growth but also caused some problems such as race riots that occurred in 1887 and 1889. During World War I (1914-18), Grand Terrace served as an airfield for American forces based at nearby Rosamond Field; it closed in 1919 after being used by both sides during World War I. However, most industries left town after the war ended; however, a few businesses remain today including Bedrock Gems Inc., which opened up shop in 1984 after moving from Redlands; GAS USA LLC., which operates a natural gas station located next door to Applebee's restaurant; and Rancho Viejo Chevrolet & Sales Inc., which has been open since 1951 inside what once was Bundy's grocery store building adjacent to Interstate 5 (I-5).

Grand Terrace, California is a small town located in eastern Los Angeles County, California. The population was 9,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the city of West Hollywood. Grand Terrace is one of the oldest towns in Los Angeles County, founded in 1887 by Scots-Irish immigrants who came to escape indentured servitude on their home farm near downtown LA. The first post office opened in 1888 and was called "Canyon". The name "Grand Terrace" was given to the town by an anonymous donor in tribute to a community north of LA that had been destroyed by fire in 1894. The original settlers were Irish Protestants who arrived from Ireland during the Gilded Age. They established several businesses including a grocery store and bakery before moving out of town around 1920 when they became too expensive to maintain and lost business opportunities due to Prohibitionusa prohibition laws which kept alcohol illegal). In 1924, a group of Native Americans led by Chief Sealth erected a teepee on what is now Pioneer Park as part of their Powhatan Resistance movement against white settlement throughout southern and eastern Santa Monica County. In 1935, after years of negotiations and with help from then Governor Earl Warren, the county signed an agreement with Beverly Hills allowing over 100 Anglo families (the initial wave) to purchase land east of Mulholland Drive for $3 per acre ($40 million today). This new development significantly increased competition for available housing within Los Angeles County as well as providing jobs for many local farmers and other businessmen who did not have access to cheap land or government assistance during the early days of development. As this area started becoming more developed and populated, parts behind Powerline Road began losing their Indian heritage with some residents converting to Christianity while others left for open lots along Wilshire Boulevard which led directly into DowntownLA becomingenositically known as Koreatown (today's Koreatown would later be formed when Japanese Americans moved into west L.A.). However much like its predecessor downplayed Indian influence until it disappeared altogether Grand Terriceans retained links with their homeland through cultural events such as Gaelach Fheis (a traditional music festival), social gatherings such as bingo nights at local pubs/restaurants/breweries etc., sporting events such as angling tournaments at Pico Rivera Lake or Highland Games being staged annually at PCL park; all services still offered through traditional methods such as door-to-door delivery
The area that is now Grand Terrace was originally part of the Rancho Buena Vista Mexican land grant. The first European to visit the area was Gaspar de Portolà, who named it after his hometown ofBuenavista, Spain. In 1836, Captain John C. Fremont discovered gold in the area and founded the First Anglo-American Gold Rush in what is now Santa Clara County. By 1849, most of present day Santa Clara County had been organized. In 1853, a post office called Buena Vista was established at the junction of what are today San Miguel and Santa Clara Streets. The name “Grand Terrace” originated from its location on a high bluff overlooking both San Miguel Creek and Mission Bay.
