In 1935, an officer named John Ahern was appointed to the position of Constable. In 1951, an officer named Harry Sollenberger was appointed to the position of Constable. He would serve for seventeen years before his retirement in 1976. In 1984, an officer named Don Burden was appointed to the position of Constable. He would serve for eleven years before his retirement in 1992.

Grand Terrace, California is a small town located in the San Joaquin Valley about an hour and a half from Fresno. The population in 2016 was 9,521. The name “Grand Terrace” comes from the fact that it is one of the few remaining towns on the old Nootka Trail which ran through the area before it was abandoned by the Indian people in 1847. The first permanent settler in Grand Terrace was James Irvine who built his house on what is now First Street in 1851. One of the early businesses in town was a store run by John Purdy which opened its doors on April 1, 1852. A post office called Grand Terrace began operations on October 15, 1859 and remained open until it was discontinued on May 6, 1861. During World War II, many local residents served in the military including Sergeant John Eller and Driver George Whitehurst who were killed when their truck was destroyed during an air raid over Grand Terrace on December 8, 1942. There are also several buildings that still remain from this time such as Green House #1 which housed both male and female inmates at various prison camps located near Redding; and #2 which housed an army ammunition dump during World War II. In 1951, Forbes Air Force Base (now known as Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson) was established adjacent to Grand Terrace making it home to many servicemen and their families as well as some civilian workers associated with Allen Air Force Base (now Wright-Patterson Air Force Base). In 1969, Grand Terrice became part of El Centro Municipal government when it merged with other nearby communities forming what is currently known as San Joaquin County . In 1984, Interstate 5 bypassed downtown El Centro via southbound lanes leading to new shopping malls developments such as Home Depot Plaza east of I-5 and Primm Mall west of I-5 within city limits. This created challenges for downtown business owners who could not compete with these developing areas without having their stores closed or relocated .

They called the area California because of the large cactus that grew there, and they thought it was an ideal place to settle because of its ample water supplies and lack of trees. The first permanent European settlement in what is now California was at Fort Point on the San Francisco Bay in 1769, by French colonists.
