Air Force Deployed Gift History in Greenfield, California began in the mid-1950s with the establishment of Air Force Base Camp Pendleton and its airfield, Kirtland Air Force Base. From then until the early 1970s, Kirtland AFB was home to two detachments of fighter/attack aircraft: The 530th Fighter Wing and the 602d Attack Squadron. These units were used for training flying attack pilots from other USAF bases as well as providing a combat dividend against surface-to-air missiles and enemy fighters. In 1969, when Kirtland AFB closed its doors following more than 50 years of service, it was replaced by Goldstone AB, which served as an aerial refueling base for the USAF's bombers. At Goldstone AFB there was also an armed forces detachment known as The Gulls that operated helicopters. This detachment provided support to military activities throughout Orange County including Search and Rescue missions during earthquakes or other natural disasters; delivering supplies to Redwood Army National Forest ranches; providing medical care for personnel serving in Vietnam and later Kosovo; conducting anti-submarine warfare patrols off Navy vessels in Southern California; and hosting various cultural events throughout the year. Today, Goldstone AFB is home to three squadrons of F/A-18 aircraft – 412th Fighter Squadron (Fighter Interceptor), 413th Fighter Squadron (Light Bomber), 414th Fighter Squadron (Attack).Additional units at Goldstone include: Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the Marines Marine Barracks Building on North Beach; portions of both San Diego County Courthouse Annexes on South Beach between Harbor Drive - just north of Pacific Coast Highway -and Balboa Park Boulevard - east of Alligator Alley - ; a Joint Forces Command building known as “The Cube” located near Gate 1 on I-5 southbound exit 452 after exit 454 A); a United States Coast Guard station known as USCGC Point Loma inside Point Loma Naval Station Museum along shoreline between Lopez Heights Road north side - adjacent to Point Lobos Lagoonfillment Area And beaches east side adjacent to UPNL Hospital Campus proper In addition numerous private residences have been taken over by members or guests who reside at Goldston AB each year during Christmas season since 1969 when The Gulls Detachment left Kirtland AFB

Greenfield is a small town located in Kern County, California. The population was 1,547 at the 2010 census. It is the home of Occidental College and the only city in Kern County with both an academic and cultural center. The first permanent settler in what would become Greenfield was Augustus Chapman who arrived on May 12, 1868. He founded a ranch called Rancho Los Nietos off of U.S. Route 99 just north of present-day Greenfield. The early pioneers were mainly farmers and their families who grew corn, wheat, potatoes, cotton and other crops; supplemented their income by logging and mining operations in nearby mountain ranges during the 1870s and 1880s. On October 17, 1892, when Gold Rush fever swept through central California following news of gold discoveries at Sutter's Fort and Bullion Hill near Yosemite National Park (the former being renamed Sierra Foothills in 1912), entrepreneur George Atherton organized a group of men to purchase two thousand acres (800 hectares) east of Greenfield for $10 per acre ($2 million today). Named Atherton Land Company after its founder – one of the most successful real estate entrepreneurs ever – development began on what would become known as Atherton Park which included 3 miles (5 kilometers) of forested coastline that stretched from Redwood City to Shelter Cove on San Pablo Bay; 160 miles (250 kilometers) of paved streets including one extending into downtown Greenfield; 50 homes/cities built by Atherton's original investors or later developed by them: 200 businesses; 600 jobs generated; $100 million worth of assets developed over 20 years resulting in an area growth rate greater than any other US city outside New York City during this time In 1915 local retailer Hohl & Kopp opened its first store in Greenfield followed by Sears Roebuck & Co.'s first store in 1920 followed by JCPenney's store opening its doors here on November 15th 1923 - making this one-time small town now one of America’s leading retail destinations with more than 2 dozen stores across three continents A variety series about life here beginning with postcards from pioneer days continues annually throughout Memorial Day Weekend
