Greenfield is a town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 5,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The site of Greenfield was first settled in 1873 by farmers from central California who named their new town after the fields they saw on their drives to market. Greenfield's first post office opened in 1875. The community grew slowly until it became an incorporated village in 1912 when its population reached 1,000 people. By 1920, Greenfield had outgrown its small Village form and adopted a larger city form with a mayor and council system. In 1970, when Kern County merged with Los Angeles County to become one large county, Greenfield became the only incorporated municipality within LA City Limits; however it continued to be governed by a Mayor/Council system as an unincorporated village until 1984 when it adopted its current city form under the leadership of Mayor John D'Elia. Since 1984, Greenfield has seen increasing growth as a bedroom community for Hollywood Hills and South Pasadena; however its mainstay has been as a center for agriculture with over 100 farms operation today including greenhouses and feedlots which produce crops such as almonds, tomatoes and apples. The downtown core remains largely unchanged from When It Was Smaller but there are now more than 20 businesses located downtown including several banks (JPMorgan Chase & Wells Fargo) along with two restaurants – Blue Bottle Coffee & Brewery and Shake Shack – making Downtown Greenfield one of North America's most vibrant communities close to major shopping areas like West Hollywood or Universal Studios Park! Downtown is home to several dozen small businesses all clustered around Market Streetk- former bank building that now houses Allstate insurance company which replaced First National Bank which closed in 2001), State Senator Bob Hertzog’s Office Building(former school board room) across from City Hall (now apartments), numerous churches (Straitview Baptist Church being especially notable) as well as two high schools- Stonington East High School(which currently serves grades 9-12) and Cathedral Catholic High School (formerly Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Academy). Other popular destinations include: reopened Blue Bottle Coffee & Brewery just east of Main StreetK followed by Bloomin' Bakery then Cafe Lola outside of Allstate Insurance Company before ending up at Shrek's Pizza - another popular destination!
There is a long and proud history of the National Guard Gift History. The National Guard has always been an important part of the United States, playing an essential role in many wars and conflicts. The first national guard units were organized in 1792 during the revolution. At the time, militias were only a small portion of the American military, but they played a key role in defending against British aggression. In 1812, President James K. Polk called for a national guard corps to help protect America during the war with Mexico. The first national guard regiment was created on October 15th, 1812 when 1st Missouri Volunteer Infantry Regiment was activated at Cairo Barracks in St Louis County, Missouri. The US National Guard was originally made up of state militias that volunteered to serve federal troops as well as each individual’s own state militia unit from which he or she could draw reinforcements should needed by their fellow citizens outside of their home state(s). As we now know, this wasn’t always an easy task because wartime mobilization could quickly become overwhelming for states with few soldiers and no way to bring them over from their constituent militias into service with federal troops under orders from Washington DC! In 1917-1918 there was significant growth within the FBI due to World War I which had led Congress to establish “the National Security Act” (50 Stat 553) which granted broad powers to law enforcement agencies including intelligence gathering and control over communications equipment used by anarchists, socialists and other radicals not authorized by government authorities. This gave rise to concerns among some that these new powers might be used improperly against patriotic Americans who opposed warring nations while also potentially exposing sensitive information shared by those same organizations! In response Congress passed what is known as the Militia Clauses which limited these authority (and others) while still allowing police departments across America wide latitude in investigating any citizen without warrants or probable cause! These events led directly to greater public pressure on elected officials to do something about increasing military spending instead of focusing on pressing social issues such as unemployment and poverty! With both World Wars raging on domestically it seemed like our country may need another national guard unit just like during Wartime but lawmakers didn’t want another army being developed solely for use against civilians rather than fighting actual wars! So after years of debate congress finally approved legislation establishing command centers for all reserve divisions – Army Reserve Command Units – within each State Department!!! And so began what would eventually become one of America’s most prestigious institutions: The Military Academy at West Point where today cadets from every corner of our great nation attend!! It isn’t just Cadets who receive your gift; Guardsmen have also been recipients throughout history including Medal Of Honor recipient General George Smedley Butler who served in both World Wars having received his medal while stationed at Camp Forrest Georgia !! On November 4th 1907 Major General John J Hogan became Commanding General Third Brigade New York Volunteers after previously serving as Inspector General for Infantry Training at Ft Leavenworth Kansas !! On December 12th 1907 Second Lieutenant Colonel Augustus Woodward became First Sergeant 2nd Battalion Brooklyn Heights Volunteers after previous enlistment with Company H 3rd battalion I Cavalry Corps !!
