In 1847, Portuguese traders brought Columbian sea bass back to Portugal with sacks full of dried red bean pods which they began roasting themselves – thus beginning what would become known as Brazilian Coffee production. Throughout much of its history, Brazilian Coffee has been characterized as a high quality bean due its rich flavor profile and consistent quality across different regions - something that continues to this day. A similar story can be told about Ethiopian Red Bean Beans – until relatively recently they were only available within Ethiopia itself (and very expensive). As Ethiopian Red Beans spread throughout Africa & Europe they began becoming cheaper & easier to purchase on global markets; eventually giving rise to espresso cafes all over the world! In terms of practices associated with roasting beans at various points in their life cycle: early Morning Roasters tended not to use water bath methods (i.e., heating water until it reached a boil before adding grounds), while Mid Day Roasters used an annatto or carmine dye which helped improve coloration during shipping/packaging - these days Mid Day Roasters almost always roast their beans whole before packing them for shipment

The largest employer in Hawthorne is the local government which includes the Town Council and City Manager. Other major employers include the University of California at Santa Cruz and Southern Pacific Railroad. The first European to sight what is now Hawthorne was Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo on November 1, 1542 while sailing from Mexico City to Acapulco. He named it Isla de los Pinos (Island of the Pines). A mission was established there by Fray Juan Bautista Alvarado on July 21, 1769. In 1846, General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna built Fort Ord near present-day Hawthorne after his Mexican War expedition lost many men and supplies at Cerro Gordo Pass. The post office was established at Hawthorne on December 4, 1846. The first postmaster was Wm Higginson who served until 1861 when he moved to Monterey. Fort Ord was decommissioned in 1872 and sold to John Cranch for $6800 in 1879. Cranch used it as a ranch house until 1913 when it became part of the University of California at Santa Cruz campus through a land swap agreement between UCSC and Los Angeles School District No 6 (now known as Precourt Community College). In 1915–1916, during World War I with munitions production starting up across America, Hawthorne had its own plant run by American Shipbuilding Corporation under contract from Lend-Lease authorities for building Liberty Ships out of Douglas Fir lumber brought over by shipbuilders from British Isles before the war endedqviii . Because these ships were not combat ready they were never put into service but remain stored at various locations around America until scrapped or converted into other purposes around the late 1990svi . On May 20, 1925 Mayor Harry Dillingham unveiled plans for an express road from La Conchita Valley along Highway 101 northward passing through town center on Centre Street followed by an extension east along Center Street pastpresent-day High School to Dual Creek near Interstate 5 vii . This project became reality one week later when US Route 101 reopened following repairs following a severe earthquake that struck western CA two months earlierviii . Thereafter development stalled as noone wanted to build new homes close to I-5; however recent changes have seen mixed use coming back onto Main Street with some businesses opening up while others are shutting down due mainly to low traffic levelsix . Development restarted in earnest about five years ago when Google began expanding their presence downtown with offices and parking lots xxi ; however again this has resulted in little activity outside of their facilities currentlyxi .
