Hawthorne, California is a small town located in the San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California. It is bordered by Orinda to the east and south, Fremont to the west, and Daly City to the north. The population of Hawthorne was estimated at 24,000 in 2010. The first naval deployment in Hawthorne occurred on December 12, 1941 when USS Enterprise (CV-6) embarked NavalUnit "Hawthorne" for an amphibious assault against Tulagi Island in order to protect American forces during World War II. On February 23, 1945 USS Constitution (CV-46) sailed into port with Squadron 2nd Fleet upon its return from Operation Crossroads which transported cargo and personnel between Saipan and Okinawa. The last naval deployment in Hawthorne occurred on October 7, 1972 when USS Nimitz (CVN-68) embarked NavalUnit "Hawthorne" for support operations during the Yom Kippur War. The last naval unit stationed here was NavalUnit "Palo Alto" which departed on November 1st 1991 after serving here for 15 years.

On October 10-11 USS Constitution Museum Historian event highlighting life on board her when she visited Yokosuka Japan in 1813 during her first cruise undercaptain James Cook Jr.. On October 17-18 USS Constitution Museum earthquake survivor tours departing at 10am & 1pm followed by lunch at museum before returning home in time for dinner aboard her escorted by museum curator Capt Jeffery Lunsford From October 24-30 USS Constitution Museum Rapid Response Exhibit open daily displaying 4 days worth of photos/video taken during various incidents onboard ship while she was deployed around the world during that time period including Typhoon Haiyan! Finally from December 6-7 USS Constitution Museum Maritime History exhibit showcasing every piece of equipment/machinery used aboard ship while she was deployed around the world during those years

Hawthorne is a small town in California, located about an hour's drive from Los Angeles. The population of Hawthorne was 9,246 at the 2000 census, making it the 12th most populous community in Los Angeles County. The name "Hawthorne" comes from two English words: hawkhorn and thorney. The first word means a thorny tree or shrub, while the second word refers to a place where hawks can be seen flying. The town was founded by John C. Hawthorne in 1853 on land he had purchased from the Hahnsons. John C. Hawthorne operated a flour mill here until 1865 when he sold it to Isaac Nourse and moved to nearby Glendale for his paper business. In 1868 Nourse bought another flour mill and began manufacturing ropes and twine here as well. By 1896 his company had become the largest producer of rope and twine in California. In 1916 interest in his company was transferred to Nathaniel Myrick who ran it until its sale to Ralph Hirsch in 1934. Hawthorne has experienced many different types of growth over the years including retail businesses such as Safeway Supermarket, KFC Chicken & Waffles, A&W Root Beer Park (now known as Goldenvoice), Jamba Juice', Staples Center (now known as LA Galaxy Stadium), etc., agricultural products such as fruits and vegetables available at local farmers markets, construction jobs during the early days of LA's growth before suburbs were developed, more recently becoming home to one of Southern California's only medical marijuana dispensaries with over 60 employees

On December 5, 1941, the United States Navy deployed the USS Lexington (CV-2) to Japanese waters in order to support the Empire of Japan. The ship arrived at Truk on December 8 and began its deployment with Rear Admiral John W. McCain as commanding officer. The Lexington served throughout World War II as a carrier-based air armada and antisubmarine warfare unit, providing strategic bombers and submarines for U.S. forces in the Asia-Pacific Theater of Operations. In 1945, after hostilities Ended, the Lexington returned to Charleston, South Carolina after spending two years in storage. She was recommissioned on May 16, 1947 and spent the next few years being used primarily for training exercises off Florida's coast before she was placed into service again on September 1, 1951 as part of Operation "Flipper" which saw her delivery to Taiwan. The Independence (AGF-5) class frigates were built by Newport News Shipbuilding & Drydock Company Limited between 1951 and 1957; they differed from their predecessors in having more powerful engines instead of steam turbines and a helicopter hangar aft of the superstructure. The ships were designed as coastal patrol frigate variants but were also fitted with nuclear weapons with each ship carrying four AIM-9L/M missiles ready for launch inside case of war against an enemy nation or coalition thereof who had threatened maritime trade routes through Taiwan or Formosa Strait
Hawthorne is an unincorporated community in Kern County, California, located northwest of the city of Bakersfield. The name was given to it by John Hawthorne, one of the first white settlers in the area. It began as a small ranching town and gradually grew into a rural community with a population of about 350 people at its peak in the early 1920s. It experienced significant economic decline during World War II and afterward, but has since beginning to experience a resurgence as a bedroom community for nearby Bakersfield.
Hawthorne was founded in 1847 by Captain John A. Hawthorne and his brother, Capt. Nathaniel Hawthorne. The town was named after General Richard Henry Pinckney, who fought in the Mexican-American War. The town's first store was built on the corner of Second and Farnam Streets.
