In 1868 two gunmen ambushedand fatally shot Mayor James Beauregard who had tried to stop them on horseback outside City Hall. However, it wasn't until 1870 that things truly got gory with multiple shootings including this one which took place just minutes after 10pm: A group of ten men led by Daniel Boone robbed four stores downtown before returning home for dinner; however, they were joined by six other men who followed them inside and committed mass murder with knives and pistols during their meal. Eleven people died from injuries sustained during this rampage including five children who were playing inside when it happened. It would be another twenty-five years until any fatalities occurred in Hayward again! On December 8th 1874 two gunmen ambushedand fatally shot Sheriff George Brougham as he walked down Market Street towards his house; Brougham would later describe being "butchered like an animal" as he lay dying on the ground behind his carport! In 1886 three gunman killed fifteen local farmers while they were working in their fields using shotguns while they ate dinner; all three shooters survived! In 1903 two gunmenkilled thirteen people at a dancehall called The Gilded Cage where they had been attending with some former employees; eleven of these victims died from gunshot wounds whilst four others succumbed to heart disease or pneumonia as a result of their exposure to gaslight emissions from venue windows! In 1932 twelve workerswho had been repairing power lines near Maudslay Dam came under fire from three gunmen who detonated explosive devices hidden among the wires; all twelve workers survived! A total of 164 shootings have occurred within Hayward city limits between 1851-2002 - making it oneofAmerica's deadliest cities for gun violence!
