Gun gift history in Hemet, California began with the purchase of a revolver from Fenton & Company in 1892. The first gun to be given as a gift in Hemet was an American B-25 rifle. It was given to Mayor John A. Woolridge by Captain Harry W. Brennan of the San Diego Riflemen on Christmas Day of that year. Gun gifts continued to be given throughout the early years of this century and into the 1920s when guns became more popular among American citizens for personal protection and hunting purposes. By 1925, there were over 100 gun stores in Hemet, many of which sold firearms donated by local residents or businesses who felt that these arms were needed for the defense of their community. During World War II, hemet residents contributed weapons and supplies to various branches of government both at home and abroad. Many residents also served as volunteers in military units such as Naval Air Station Point Loma where they equipped planes with machineguns and rifles. After the war ended, many people decided that it was time for their old guns to go into retirement and donations from individuals, businesses, churches, schools, etc., started becoming more common again. In 1984, there were only 10 gun stores remaining in Hemettown; however, due to recent growth within our community (especially within the retail sector), we now have over 200+ stores across Southern California! These days (2008), it is not uncommon to find guns available for sale at local pawn shops or secondhand retailers as well - making hemet one of the most heavily firearm-owned communities anywhere!

Hemet is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 362 at the 2010 census. Hemet is located on the eastern edge of the Inland Empire and has been known for its wine production since the 18th century. Today, Hemet's economy revolves around tourism, agriculture, and manufacturing. The area that now makes up Hemet was first inhabited by Mono people who hunted deer and other animals in nearby forested areas. In 1769, Jedediah Smith discovered gold along the Truckee River. He named this new discovery "Hemet" after his home town of Hieronymus Bosch's painting of a man receiving baptism from an angel (now in The Getty Museum). By 1800, several small settlements had been established near what are now Hemet and Ontario City; all were abandoned by 1851 when silver discoveries began to be made in surrounding counties. In 1853, James Waddell founded Waddell's Rancho Niguel about 12 miles east of present-day Hemet on what is today called Waddell Road between Menard Avenue and Upland Drive; it became one of the largest ranches in California. By 1860, many farmers had moved into central California because of improved transportation through Union Pacific Railroad construction; they started growing grapes to sell to local winemakers at market prices rather than produce their own wine until shortly before World War II when Prohibition ended importation of fruit juices from Europe which destroyed much local viticultural production as well as retail sales opportunities for Californians who could not purchase wine without violating Prohibition laws. During World War II many jobs were created at Bendix Aircraft Plant #2 just outside Menard during 1942 thru 1945 because aircraft parts were being produced here instead of overseas where war was going on with Bombing raids happening all over North America including Hemet Valley

It was founded by the Spanish in 1777 and named for Hemet Pass, an important route between Stockton and Bakersfield. The first post office in Hemet opened on November 15, 1872. The current post office building was built in 1959 and replaced a smaller building that served as the town's courthouse until 1911. Hemet is located east of Fresno on State Route 168 and north of Visalia on State Route 51. Interstate 10 passes through the center of Hemet with access from I-5 to the south and east; State Route 168 leads northeast to Fresno and south to Visalia. According to the United States Census Bureau, Hemet has a total area of , all of it land.
