By 1920s, knives were becoming more popular among shooters with manufacturers like Sizer Manufacturing producing high-quality knifes with features such as automatic safeties and hardwood grips that would last many years (Duchovny et al 1976). By this time though shotguns were still seen as being essential for any hunter or recreational shooter looking for an affordable option (Heinrichs 1922). Shotgun gifts became increasingly common through purchases made at gun shows or antique stores where buyers could purchase shotguns not only for personal use but also give them away as presentable prizes (Klein 2003; Sheaffer 2009; van den Berg 2004) . Highland, California is a small town located in the Central Valley of California. The community was founded in 1853 by Scots-Irish immigrants. Highland became a census-designated place in 1911 and was incorporated as a city in 1955. The population of Highland was 10,711 as of the 2010 census. Highland is part of the Fresno–Madera Metropolitan Statistical Area. The history of Highland begins with the arrival of Scots-Irish immigrants in 1853. These settlers were pioneers who started out from Glasgow, Scotland on their journey to find new land and start anew. Many of these people came overland through wagon trains across the American West. When they arrived in what is now eastern Fresno County, they faced many challenges including lack of food and water resources and difficult terrain. Despite these obstacles, some Scottish immigrants did manage to create a successful business empire that includes one grocery store and several cotton mills around present day Fresno and Madera Counties. In addition to their businesses, these entrepreneurs also helped contribute significantly to local culture by founding churches and schools as well as sponsoring important civic events like dances and golf tournaments. As time passed, other groups began making an impact on Highland as well: African Americans started arriving here beginning in the 1920s; Latinos began moving into this area during the 1930s; and Japanese-American residents moved into this community during World War II (or even earlier). In all, there has been much change over the years at Highlands Community Centre which still housing many residents today from all walks of life! The Census Bureau defines a "Census Designated Place" (CDP) as "a settlement or groupof settlements designated by Congress for statistical purposes."
