The Hillsborough National Guard was organized on December 5, 1911. The United States national guard was created in 1903 as the American Red Cross Volunteers to provide financial assistance to military members and their families during World War I. On November 15, 1925, the United States Congress passed a bill that changed the name of the organization to the National Guard Bureau. The first nationalguard unit was activated in California on May 8, 1930. In 1937, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed into law a bill that increased funding for the National Guard Bureau and established a personal exemption from income taxes for members of the National Guard who were deployed in any federal or state conflict involving international relations or defense activities. In 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt approved establishment of an all-volunteer armada called Task Force 66 which would be used primarily to protect merchant shipping in Hawaii against Japanese occupation forces. The task force was disbanded after only three months when Japan entered World War II without warning and began bombings of Pearl Harbor

The valley was named for David Hill (1821-1892), an early settler in Kern County. The first post office in Hillsborough was established in 1885. Roosevelt ordered all Americans over 21 years of age to serve in any branch of the armed forces without being drafted or required to serve more than two years of continuous duty (or four months if you were a naturalized citizen). After Pearl Harbor attacks on December 7th 1941, Congress passed act creating the Department of Defense which merged all three branches of government into one body with respect to national defense. On September 8th 1945, President Harry S Truman ordered all voluntary members of military services who had served within six months since their last activation date (September 1st 1945) be re-activated and must report for duty at least once per month beginning on October 1st 1946 until discharged or transferred abroad (or until July 31st 1948 if outside of US). This order became known as The GI Bill because it covered education, healthcare, housing and other social benefits for service members upon discharge or transfer home..
Hillsborough is a small town in San Mateo County, California. The population was 2,953 at the 2010 census. Hillsborough was founded in 1887 by James P. Hill and his brother-in-law, Sam Hill. The first post office was opened in 1895 and the name of the town changed to Hillsborough in 1897 after James P. Hill's victory in a local election. Hillsborough is located on State Route 101 north of San Francisco. The first settlers were farmers who grew barley and wheat according to the climate they found themselves inhabiting; however, by 1898 it became clear that they did not have enough land to support both their crops and their families so they decided to move westward and found new homes in Plumas County (now part of Sacramento). It wasn't until 1912 when another group of pioneers arrived from Northern California with the intention of farming citrus fruits but this venture also failed due to lack of farmland as well as mild weather conditions during winter which discouraged grape growing; however, some fruit trees did get established over time. In 1916, James P. Hill died suddenly leaving behind a young son named Jimmie Jr., who took over running the family business empire which had begun with small operations back home: jellied honey, eggs, chocolates and many other items enjoyed by locals throughout the years before being exported into nearby countries such as Russia and China where they were prized for their unique flavorsome properties - something that still continues today with various products made using locally sourced ingredients all across America! When World War II began on September 3rd 1940 residents were quickly mobilized due to rationing programs set up during Pearl Harbor; however like most small townships south of San Francisco there wasn't much construction going on aside from basic infrastructure such as water systems or phone lines since hillsborough lacked any kind of real estate development potential outside its immediate vicinity so it wasn't until 1946 that an Electric Railway Station was built adjacent to what is now known as Main Street which served both residents and tourists alike throughout those early days especially given how close HSBC Hall was situated just down the street! HSBC Hall itself only opened its doors for business services on July 15th 1957 after finally becoming finished two years earlier thanks largely to donations from Mrs. Elizabeth Woolridge (later Lady Jane Austen) following her visit to America while accompanying her mother who had married Captain Harold Wilson (the future Prime Minister) at a rally inside! Mrs. Woolridge later wrote about her trip saying "It would be hard indeed not To feel very impressed by everything I saw – Not least because I could see right through everyone’s lies...I am immensely happy that my efforts have helped give people some idea about our country." In fact Lady Jane even donated money towards building renovations which continued up until present day including ongoing research into energy efficiency measures among other things!
