Air Force Deployed Gift History in Hollister, California began during World War II when the United States Air Force activated its First Tactical Fighter Wing (1FW) at Hollister Municipal Airport. The wing was equipped with P-38 Lightning fighter aircraft and flew training missions over southern California. In 1945, the wing was disbanded and the 1FW relocated to Rosamond Army Airfield, California. In 1946, the 1FW returned to Hollister Municipal Airport and resumed training flights using F-80 Shooting Star jet aircraft. In 1951, the wing moved again, this time to Edwards Air Force Base in Orange County, California. Here, the 1FW engaged in operations against Cuba as part of Operation Karamazov. In 1957, it was renamed the 9th Tactical Fighter Wing (9TTFW). This unit served as a camouflage squadron for Twelfth Air Forces during Operation Neptune's Spear which aimed to drive North Korean forces from South Korea. The 9TTFW also deployed in support of United Nations relief efforts following Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and participated in combat patrols over Baghdad throughout 2006Operation Enduring Freedom – Afghanistan which focused on counterterrorism operations against terrorism suspects operating from within Afghanistan. In 2009, members of 9TTFW were among those who took part in an airlift operation that transported humanitarian supplies to earthquake-ravaged Haiti pursuant toOperation Smile Act. The following year saw another deployment; this time as part of Operation Noble Eagle which targeted terrorist financing cells across Southeast Asia through aerial refueling and electronic warfare activities over waters off Thailand conducting anti-terrorism operations against Taliban insurgents operating within that country’s borders In 2013 however, it was announced that 9TTFW would be disbanding effective September 30th due to budgetary restrictions afflicting all USAF wings under DoD control . At its disbandment ceremony held at Hollister Municipal Airport on October 2nd ,the last surviving F-16C/D Fighting Falcon from the 9TTFW presented by Lt Colonel Brian Jensen Commander 3rdFlying Training Wing - Sacramento AFB Super Hornets departed for their final mission NATO exercises flying escort for USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group deployments Readiness Sea trials are scheduled for early 2019 Hollister Municipal Airport will continue hosting active duty USAF units until such time as a new base is activated or replaced approximately 15 miles away at Yuma Proving Ground AFB CA

The program began in 1991 and consists of a series of commemorative programs that recognize different aspects of USAF gift history. The first commemoration was the Air Force Day National Service Program, which honored active duty members who had given back to their community through service on special days such as Air Force Day. Since then, ADGHP has honored airmen and women who have made a difference in their communities by donating time or money to various organizations. Some recent examples include the AFJRX Memorial Fundraiser for Children’s Cancer Research Foundation, which collected over $100,000 for pediatric cancer research; the Donate Now Campaign for Wall Street Reform, which raised over $1 million for economic justice causes; and Operation Homefront Veterans Supportive Grants, which donated over $50,000 to veteran homelessness initiatives across America. ADGHP collaborates with countless organizations throughout America to support various worthy causes. By honoring these individuals with special ceremonies and activities, ADGHP helps keep our military community connected to its citizens while also helping promote responsible gift giving practices within the USAF.
