The store featured a small roastery of their own which sold loose-leaf coffees. In 1937, the De Vrieses moved to larger premises and began selling ground coffee as well as espresso drinks. In 1951, they founded their own roast house - De Vries Coffee Roasters - and continued selling coffee until 1991 when they merged with another local business, Java Jars & Cups (now known as Joule Java).
Hollister, California is a small town located in the southcentral region of California. The population was 5,554 as of the 2010 census. Hollister is known for its annual Apple Day Parade and Pumpkin Patchfest, both held in early October. The first people to live in what is now Hollister were Native Americans who hunted and gathered wild plants and animals here. An adobe house stands today on the corner of First Street and Corners Road which was built by prospectors in 1868 during the Gold Rush. In 1873, John Hollister opened a general store here which soon became a regional center for trade with out-of-state residents. In 1916, Hollister experienced its first tornado when strong winds toppled trees and power lines near Seventh Avenue and State Street. A 1954 fire destroyed much of the town including many buildings from when it had only 2 houses. Hollister's economy changed dramatically after World War II when defense industries such as Lockheed Martin began to locate in Southern California. With new housing developments being built nearby, Hollister's population exploded from 1,800 in 1950 to over 11,000 by 1970. The high population growth rate caused traffic congestion on Corners Road which led to the introduction of an expressway through town that bypassed it completely in 1957. A new high school was built adjacent to downtown Hollister in 1982 and became home to the local college until 2003 when they closed their doors permanently due to budget cuts within USAFA University System administrators at that time). However since then there have been efforts made by some citizens to bring back educational opportunities for students living outside of town (the campus has since reopened as part of USF South Campus). Since 2007 there has been an effort underway by local businesses towards creating a "Hollisterspace" or community space within Downtown Hollister that would offer expanded access to parking , public restrooms , gardens , cafes/diners/bars . There are also plans for an amphitheater that would be used for music performances . Plans are currently under way for a Master Plan Update that will further develop this area into something more comprehensive In addition to its agricultural heritage; other significant aspects include two small rivers running through town - one flowing eastward into San Bernardino County while another flows westward into Riverside County - providing irrigation water essential for ranching operations; numerous quarries supplying stone needed for construction; several forests dating back up pre-historic rock paintings found throughout southern Kern Valley; lumber mills (and later paper mills) processing logs downriver from Castro Valley ; oil rigs offshore servicing Refineries onshore; extensive testing facilities used primarily by aerospace manufacturers such as Boeing Co.; granite quarrying continuing along Corners Road supplying both residential areas around Main Street (east side) & Vineyard Drive (west side), as well as commercial areas like Food Lion & Staples Center

In 1795, Dutch coffee baron Johannes Pieterszoon van der Rohe purchased some land near Rotterdam and began to grow coffee trees. In 1810, he founded the first European-based coffee roaster. The Dutch Java Coffee Company was one of the earliest commercial companies to roast coffee. By 1830, English traders had started trading with Java and importing Indonesian coffee. These traders introduced new strains of coffee to England and Europe which then became popular among different types of people around the world. Throughout these years, different countries developed their own versions of café culture based on their unique climates and cultural influences. In 1870, French cafe owner Pierre L’Enfant opened his first café in Paris where he served gallic cafe de l’oppidum (town meeting) style drinks called Bellevue Coffee Beers (Bellevue Brewery Coffee). From here, L’Enfant's café quickly gained a following throughout France and soon became known as La Bourse de Paris (The Exchange Place). At this time, cafés represented an important part of French society because they provided social and economic opportunities for people living in pre-industrial cities such as Paris or Marseille Bayou aux Chevaliers (Bayou des Gourmands). Hollister is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 24,541 at the 2010 census. Hollister became a city on November 3, 1914. It was named after Harry Hollister, an early settler and founder of the town. The history of Hollister can be traced back to 1849 when John C. Fremont discovered gold in what is now Contra Costa County. In 1860, parties led by General James Hahn explored the vicinity for gold and found no trace of it. However, because of this discovery and others soon afterward - such as another group led by Captain Jesse Yerkes in 1866 that struck rich placers near Concord - people began to arrive in large numbers around Concord and point out potential holdings along the way. In 1869 John Sutter founded Sebastopol after moving from his previous home near Eureka with his family and a small number of men to start anew in what would become Contra Costa County under Sutter's leadership. By 1870 there were over 100 settlers living in Sebastopol alone; however, only 2-3 percent actually worked the land due to lack of technology at that time (the first commercial farming operation had been established just south of San Francisco). On October 10th, 1914 - one month after Californio George Santiso proclamation defining cities within their borders following passage of Proposition 8 - Hollister became its own municipality with a population estimated at 24 "hundreds". That same year saw The Great Fire Of 1906 destroyed most downtown business including many stores which anchored Commercial Street during that time period known as "the lost decade". While much has changed since then (including additions/deletions) Hollister's downtown core remains one of the most vibrant areas east of Sacramento with various art galleries/stores lining Main Street from north to south as well as restaurants and cafes dating back to before World War II filling up several blocks all facing Market Street each weekend during late summer months making it quite an interesting place for locals and tourists alike!
Hollister was founded in 1887 by John Hollister and his wife, Emma. The town was named after Hollister's uncle, Amos Hollister, who had donated the land for the settlement. In 1915, the name of the town changed to Hollister Valley after a donation from Mrs. Jane Addams.
