The Huntington Beach Coast Guard Museum is a nonprofit organization that preserves and exhibits Coast Guard history in Huntington Beach, California. The museum opened in 1984 and occupies the former home of the City of Huntington Beach’s Recreation Department. The Coast Guard Museum was founded in 1984 by then-Mayor Tom Fenton. It was designed to provide a permanent home for the city’s historic collection of maritime artifacts, documents, photos and memorabilia related to the Coast Guard. In October 2006, Mayor Bob Inman dedicated the museum’s first exhibit, “A Century of Coastal Defense: A History from Top to Bottom,” which included items from both World War I and II eras as well as objects from the present day. On July 15, 2009, Mayor Inman dedicated a new wing adjacent to the old recreation department building which housed Gallery One (an art gallery) and Gallery Two (a children’s play area). This additionadded another level of visitor access for those who want to see more than just artifacts from local coastal defense history. In November 2014, Mayor Rob Bonta dedicated an additional wing on top of School District Building No. 2 which houses storage for items donated by local businesses along with meeting rooms/hallways for community meetings related to homeland security issues.

The developer who developed this area has since converted many of these homes into apartments which offer views of harbor boulevard and Newport Coast across their balconies or patios while living close enough for shopping at nearby Mervyn's Records or dining at local restaurants like Joe's Crab Shack or Donny & Marie’s Pizza Place. These developments have helped change how people view downtown – today it is one continuous pedestrian mall that offers plenty of walking opportunities even during busy times such as holiday season when traffic levels can be high due to visitors coming ashore for Convention center events related thereto but also for employment reasons by workers commuting into/from surrounding cities etc..
