Huntington Park, California is a small town located in the San Joaquin Valley of California. It has a population of about 25,000 people and was founded in 1901 by two men, George W. Huntington and his son-in-law, Hiram S. Lewis. The first coffee shop in Huntington Park was opened by Hiram S. Lewis in 1903. The town started to grow rapidly after World War II when the military began to stationed here and many new businesses were created to serve the soldiers and their families. The early coffee shops served asdropoff points for soldiers on their way home from duty; they also sold goods such as postcards and root beer while they waited for their next stop on their journey home. By the end of the 1960s, there were only a few remaining coffee shops left in town but they continued to serve delicious cups of java until 1997, when Starbucks moved into town and destroyed all of the earlier businesses within minutes of opening! In 2007, an old hardware store closed down and was used as a coffee shop for a few months before it was torn down again due to code violations. During World War II, many German civilians were captured during Operation Overlord and held prisoner at Auschwitz concentration camp where they were forced to enjoy roasted beans from local roasters called "Sonderkoffee". The POWs also managed to smuggle some home before they were liberated by American forces three months later! After liberation, these beans were sampled and enjoyed by US troops stationed throughout Germany - this resulted in Koffie van Heusden becoming one ofthe first commercially successful Starbucks franchises worldwide!
