The history of the Imperial Beach Army Deployed Gift Program goes back to World War II. The program was started in 1942 as a means of bringing gifts to our military members stationed abroad. Gifts were given during both World Wars, and throughout the Korean and Vietnam Wars. In 1984, the program was renamed the Imperial Beach Marines Corps Deployed Gift Program. Today, the program continues to be an important part of our community by giving soldiers and civilians alike access to unique and meaningful gifts. Through this program, we hope to support our veterans and give back to our community in a tangible way. Gifts are often sent through postal mail or even hand delivered directly to the soldier's barracks or home unit overseas. There is no set Regulations for how these gifts should be presented, but generally speaking, they should include items like clothing, books, toys, etc. The most common type of gift given is a teddy bear or doll (although there are also many other types). Some soldiers may also receive personalized items like birthday cards or thank you notes! It really depends on what each individual soldier needs at that specific time!

The Imperial Beach Marines were first deployed to the area in 1894. The Marines continued to serve in various capacities until 1945, when they were disbanded. In 1945, the California National Guard was activated and it became the Marine Corps Reserve. The Reserve Marines served as part of the United States Army during World War II and then as part of the United States Marine Corps after the war. They have been stationed at various locations throughout California since then. Today, there are both active and reserve Marines serving in California from all parts of the military continuum.
I live in Imperial Beach, California and have been living there for over 10 years. I have always loved the ocean and the idea of living close to the water, but never thought it would be a good location for me. After getting married in 2006, we decided to move to Imperial Beach. We found an adorable house on a quiet street that was perfect for our needs. The house had two bedrooms, one bathroom, and a kitchenette with all the necessary supplies needed to cook healthy meals at home. It also had a deck overlooking the ocean which we used as our backyard spot. We were very happy with our new home and enjoyed spending time outside cooking dinner or reading in our garden while the waves crashing against the shoreline lulled us to sleep. Our children (now adults) started growing up around here and soon learned how to swim, kayak, paddleboard, sailboat...the list goes on! As every family grows larger here comes more opportunities for them to use their imagination and experience different things related to surfing, sailing, swimming...the list goes on! And because of this growth potential along with our love of marine life (which is only increasing), we've seen some amazing changes take place here in Imperial Beach over the past few years. In 2016 alone we've seen 4 kids born into families who are now surfers themselves- thank you Huntington Beach County! In addition there has been an increase in businesses starting up specifically catering towards Surfers & Sailing fans such as: early bird tickets for Surfing America's Big Day Tournament; purchasing rights to air shows at Mission Bay; personalized T-shirts/merchandise being made just for Surfers & Sailing enthusiasts; etc.....It can't come as any surprise that Imperial Beach is quickly becoming one of Southern California's most popular tourist destinations!
Army deployed gift history goes back to the first World War. Soldiers were given gifts during that conflict, some of which still remain in use today. Some of the earliest deployments for the military were to Crimea during the War in 1853-1854. In 1903, troops were sent to Cuba as part of a US intervention in that country’s revolution. A year later, soldiers contributed to Allied forces in Africa when they invaded that continent. The US Army's Gift History Museum is located at Fort Riley, Kansas and offers an insight into how army gifts have evolved over time. Despite being combat-tested and experienced troops, many officers and enlisted men received civilian clothes and equipment upon their return home from deployment. This was likely done as part of efforts by commanders to provide individuals with an appreciation for service while also providing a physical seal of approval for those who had served under them since before they joined up themselves. Gifts such as this helped ensure unit cohesion and morale within a wartime setting while also showing appreciation for service rendered by comrades on both sides of the conflict. Additionally, gifts from civilians could be used as propaganda tools by opponents should hostilities continue unabated or spiral out of control after a ceasefire was reached; this was often done through direct relief distributions or even individual donations to charities operated by enemies of the state during peacetime periods (e.g., famine relief camps set up by Germany following World War 1). Through all these years there has been no one definitive answer when it comes to what constitutes an "Army Deployed Gift." However, certain general trends can be observed throughout history: 1) Gifting items specific to soldier culture (e.g., uniforms, insignia/badges) - particularly if these items are kept or gifted between units or branches within the armed Forces; 2) Giving items such as money or goods not related directly to warfare (but InsteadPrevious Service Awards etc.) - such as clothing allowances or travel vouchers which can date back centuries; 3) Sending tokens (ie small objects such as coins) which represent love or gratitude towards servicemen/women - something that continues right up until present day; 4) Sending flowers rather than just food parcels - often symbolic representations of good will across different formats

Imperial Beach is a city in Imperial County, California, United States. The population was 8,826 at the 2010 census. It is situated on the Pacific Coast between San Diego and Los Angeles. bordering on the ocean, it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Southern California. The city has been home to seafarers and early settlers since 1849 when it was named for King George Washington's personal envoy to Mexico City, Augustus C. Folsom III. The first post office in Imperial Beach was established in 1853. At that time there were only two families living here- the Folsoms and the Grooms. In 1861 Wm J Noble established himself as a merchant at 5th and Mission Streets with his wife Jessie S Noble.. He soon became known as "the father of Imperial Beach". In 1865 Commodore John Doolittle ordered all American forces out of San Francisco except for 10 Marines who garrisoned Fort Point on Angel Island until such time as Japan agreed to end its war with America by Treaty of Shimonoseki (1868). On July 1st 1865 Commodore John Doolittle sailed from San Francisco with about 4000 sailors under his command for Yokohama Bay where they built an artificial beachhead ashore which became known as Doolittle's Earless Headland (). Japanese forces landed onshore reinforcements during World War II but no significant damage or casualty occurred due to naval gunfire support from USS Missouri (BB-63) during those hostilities…..Despite this history, many believe that President Franklin D Roosevelt named Naval Base Camp Pendleton - now Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton - after Commodore John Doolittle in 1944…. After World War II ended on September 2nd 1945, Okinawa Prefecture reverted back to Japan control…..On October 15th 1945 Emperor Hirohito issued Order No 6893 which directed all Japanese nationals within mainland Japan be deported……On November 1st 1945 US Forces operating off Okinawa began evacuating…… following these orders much demolition and reconstruction took place across much of what is now Imperial Beach….Today some 85% of all businesses located within 2 blocks of downtown are owned or managed by foreign nationals………………………………………The total area annexed by Imperial Beach between 1918 – 1948 was 182 acres…………………. Today even more businesses have moved into areas annexed since then including: 4 miles south along Marine Drive called Harbor East; 54 acres east along Cedar Street called Crystal Cove; over 100 acres north along North Coast Highway just past US Customs Border; almost 200 acres west along Airport Boulevard………………….. After yearslong deliberations by City Council members residents voted overwhelmingly “yes” to annexingmuch of present-day Imperial Beach onto their municipal boundaries via Proposition H in 2016………………………………………………………………………………………………… Thereafter annexation proceeded rapidly with little public input or review taking place until final approval was granted by Mayor Darrell Issa late last year……………………………………… With annexation complete much work remains to be done such as developing zoning regulations for future development……………………………………... When Augustus C Folsom III first arrived in Mexico City he found that everything he saw looked like paradise- well Except when you looked down at your feet because you were standing on docks used by ships going into/out of Mexico City proper! So while still exploring central Mexico he submitted a request for a change of name so his new town could start calling itself "Imperial" instead! From this Request we received our current name "Imperial Beach" less than one year later! So richly did our founder appreciate how well things were going back then that he decided to stay put & make things even better! He started building homes not just selling them but also renting them out!! Which led him & his lovely wife Jessie S Noble (& their 3 kids) down this amazing road we're currently enjoying today......... Even though it wasn't easy earning enough money from what he did everyone got something special because MrFolsom3 loved doing what he did!! And thats why every bit counts..... Thanks MrFolsom3!!!
