The 1st Battalion originally started out as an infantry battalion but was gradually increased to become a marine battalion. In 1944, during World War II, when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, the 1st Battalion became part of Marine Corps Reserve Unit #2 at Camp Pendleton. In 1951-1952, when California statehood was achieved, members from the 1st Battalion Active Duty Militia donated their equipment to McGeorge Barracks on Encinitas Boulevard which became Californias first military installation (AFTER US MILITARY SERVICE ACT OF 1946). This donation made McGeorge Barracks one of only two installations in California that received federal recognition as a Military Reservation facility under Title 10 United States Code Section 527(a) (the other being Ft Shafter on Alameda Island). A later donation by members of the 2nd Battalion Airmobile Infantrymen's Association gave rise to what is now known as Motorcycle Squadron One (MSO1), which provided motorcycles for law enforcement service within County limits until 1977. In 1978-1979 MSO1 organized itself into its present name - National Guard motorcycle squadron - withucipting support for state wide Law Enforcement Operations since then! Since 1963 there has always been a gift exchange between units/associations within each state guarding mission; however due to budget cuts StateGuard no longer exchanges gifts outside of those states missions! It should be noted that throughout these years there have also been donations by individuals not associated with military service--i.e., civilians who are civic minded enough to want to show their support for our Troops! As stated earlier, many items donated by members of the National Guard are used today by county law enforcement agencies all over America! Items such as radios and pistols used in crime suppression can come from various barracks across America where they sit unused waiting for someone who will appreciate them even more! The National Guard was first organized on April 14th, 1792 during the time of the Revolutionary War. At that time, Congress created a national militia to help protect America from attack. The Militia Act of 1792 also established the National Guard Bureau to manage this new force. Over the years, different laws have been passed that have impacted how the National Guard functions. For example, in 1948, the Military Code was amended to allow state militias to become part of the National Guard if they reached a certain level of strength; however, this did not happen until 1973. Additionally, there have been changes to guard organizations and equipment over time as well. For example, in 1976 Guardsmen were allowed to bring firearms into all 50 states; however this rule was lifted in 1987. Today, there are over 350 separate units within the National Guard with responsibility for everything from providing security at events such as sporting fixtures and conventions to guarding federal buildings and other critical infrastructure. In addition, there are numerous private companies that provide support for both state militias and members of the military in their capacity as guardsmen or reservists. Imperial Beach, California is a city located on the Pacific coast of Southern California. The town was founded in 1887 by German immigrants, and became an American city in 1919. It is now part of the San Diego metropolitan area. The first people to inhabit Imperial Beach were probably Native Americans who may have hunted and gathered around Point Conception. Irvine County was formed from what was then Los Angeles County in 1847, and as part of that process, Imperial Beach became part of Irvine County. The first post office called Imperial Beach was established in 1892. In 1917, the name change to its current form, which it has held ever since. In 1919, the United States acquired Puerto Rico from Spain in the Treaty of Paris following World War I. As a result of this event, many San Diegans moved to Puerto Rico and some even built homes there while they awaited their turn to come back into the United States. At that time, only men could own land in America and so women did not become citizens until well into the 20th century. Because Imperial Beach's founders were all men, women had no say whatsoever when it came to municipal affairs or governance within the townspeople themselves (although they did have some representation through appointed officials). This gave rise to one of Imperial Beach's most famous nicknames - "the male-dominated town". Today, Imperial Beach remains a largely male-dominated community with a small but decisively female-led population; however there are various organizations which promote gender diversity within the community including Women's Business Ownership Network (WBO), Girls Night Out Club District #1 (GNO), and National Women’s Law Center (NWLC). The first European to sight Imperial Beach was Juan Rodríguez Caballero, who sighted it on his way back from a voyage to California in 1802. The area now known as Imperial Beach was part of Rancho El Sobrante which was granted to José Manuel Bautista de Anza by Governor Manuel Michelin in 1821. The first permanent building on the present site of the city began construction in 1835 and was called the San Francisco Mission Church. In 1865, the City of Los Angeles became an official county seat when San Bernardino County was organized. In 1893, city voters passed a bond measure for $3 million to build a new waterfront seawall and improve public transportation links. The seawall opened in 1896 and is still in use today. In 1907, Leland Stanford Jr., founder of Stanford University, purchased 8 acres (3 ha) at Point Conception for what would become North Park Cemetery. He named it North Park after his father’s estate north of Palo Alto, California. North Park became one of Southern California’s most popular tourist destinations and remains an important commercial center today with its own shopping district and medical complex. On October 29, 1916, Ulysses S. Grant died at age 73 after a long career as President of the United States that included many accomplishments including helping create modern day Los Angeles County and leading America through World War I
