Military gift history in Imperial, California began with the founding of the town of Imperial in 1851. The name was chosen to honor Emperor Meiji's visit to the area in 1853. During his stay, the emperor noted that the town had been founded by "true and valiant soldiers" and decided to add it to his personal list of places he would visit. The town quickly grew into a busy military community with an active military garrison. The first troops arrived in Imperial on December 11th, 1861, during the American Civil War. A detachment from Company G of the 1st Battalion, 9th Regiment fought at First Battle of Bull Run on July 24th, 1862. On November 21st, 1861, Company C (Lantern Bearers) of Colonel James Hildebrandt's 5th Infantry regiment was mustered into service at Imperial as part of General George Armstrong Custer's 4th Cavalry brigade under Major General Don Carlos Manuel Filiberto. During World War II there were numerous troop deployments across Southern California including: -1939-1945: Japanese strategy for defense against US forces called for a defensive perimeter around Los Angeles City Limits; however as enemy units advanced towards LAC they shifted their focus towards MacArthur Beach which protected northern Ventura County; this created an opening for US forces north of LAX where they successfully drove Japan from its home islands -1941-1945: Troops were called up for service during wartime due to air raids and required fuel and food supplies; these deliveries were often made through commercial transportation routes over occupied Europe

The history of Imperial, California began with the 1846 Donation Land Claim Act. The land was donated by the Mexican government to the United States in order to create a new Southwest Territory. In 1848, following the Mexican-American War, Congress passed an act that created and named the new territory Imperial County. The counties of San Diego, Los Angeles, and Kern were added to Imperial in 1850. In 1875, the United States acquired much of Mexico’s West Coast; including what is now Imperial County. Following World War II, America’s western frontier expanded as technology advanced and more people moved into desert lands east of the Mississippi River. The population of Imperial increased rapidly due to immigration from all over Latin America and Asia. Today, Imperial is one of California’s most ethnically diverse communities with a wide variety of cultures and languages represented among its residents. In addition to its rich history and culture, Empire has become known for its agriculture and natural resources. Throughout history, Empire has been a key player in both American ranching and mining industries. Today it is home to some of California’s most productive agriculturallands as well as large reserves of oil and gas rights onshore and offshore. Additionally, Empire is known for its recreation opportunities including hiking trails through rolling hillsides filled with ancient cacti or swimming in crystal clear waters near Black Sands Beach

The history of Imperial, Calif. can be traced back to the 18th century when the area was part of Spanish California. The first permanent residents in what is now Imperial were Anglo-Californians who arrived in 1777 as part of the Mexican-American War. They were followed by Anglo-Dutch immigrants in 1848, and then by Mexican Americans in 1851. In 1855, Mexico ceded Imperial to the United States as a result of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. American control over Imperial became complete upon its annexation into the United States on November 16, 1912. At that time, it was one of twenty-eight rural counties within California. Imperial gradually became an agricultural center due to its location close to water resources and railroads. A streetcar line was built through town in 1915 and brought tourists and workers from nearby agriculture communities like Livermore and Reno
The county of Imperial was formed on July 1, 1851 from the portion of Alameda County east of the San Francisco Peninsula. It became a part of the United States in 1850. The first known site for an American settlement was Rancho Rincon del Diablo south of Point Isabel on January 17, 1846 by Antonio Bandera and his band of Mexican independence fighters. In 1853, Joshua Lomas patented Rancho Rincon del Diablo to James Irvine. The ranch passed through various hands until it was sold to Mission San José de Armas by August 15, 1911. A fire destroyed most of the mission on December 12, 1906 and it closed down six months later. On May 14, 1912, the California State Legislature created Rancho Santa Fe (now part of Soquel) within Imperial County as a result of a bill placed before them by Governor George De la Guardia.
