On October 24th of that year, Congress passed an act authorizing the creation of a permanent air force within the United States Army (USAAF). The USAAF would be composed of bombers, fighters and reconnaissance aircraft. It would serve as America’s primary aerial warfare instrumentality until World War II. During World War II,America's role as an international superpower changed dramatically due to Germany's occupation of Europe and Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor. With so many countries trying to fight together against Nazi Germany, America needed a new way to prosecute war because it lacked any kind of naval or strategic bomber capability at its disposal. On December 8th 1941, President Franklin D Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9390 which created both the Strategic Bombing Survey (SBS) and Naval Aircraft Factory (NAF). These organizations were tasked with developing strategies for attacking enemy targets using bombsights instead of cannons or torpedoes. On April 6th 1942 both SBS and NAF reported their findings to FDR who then green-lighted Operation Overlord -the invasion of Normandy by American forces under General Dwight Eisenhower –an operation that would ultimately lead to victory over Nazi Germany! After months of planning and testing, Overlord began on June 6th 1943 when over 100 P-39 Lightning aircraft departed from RAF Moultoncourt Airport in England laden with 5 million pounds (22 tons) worth of explosives! This large amount of firepower was necessary because even though German armored vehicles had been destroyed during previous campaigns such as Normandy,[1] they could still mount significant counterattacks if successful! Unfortunately for Hitler's regime however, these attacks were all thwarted by Allied fighter planes led by Lt Colonel James De Havilland who eventually became known as "The Fighter King!". In 1945 European peace came about after World War II following atomic bombing raids on Hiroshima and Nagasaki which caused mass destruction across Japan including thousands dead civilians! Following this horror showanto conclude hostilities between America & Japan] occurred leading Japanese Emperor Hirohito abdicated his position[2], ending World War II! This event marked a turning point in world history where technology took center stage while traditional wars continued elsewhere around the world!

It is located in the northwestern corner of the county and is bordered by Pasadena to the east, Vernon to the south, and Culver City to the west. The city's terrain consists of rolling hills and gentle slopes that run north-south for most of its length. To its east are a series of small mountains which make up part of Hollywood Hills. The name "Inglewood" comes from two early Spanish settlements: Gómez de Inglewood (now part of Culver City) in 1692 and San Gabriel Mission in 1769. Gómez de Inglewood named his community after Manuel Nieto y Costilla who had come from Spain in 1688 to carry out an exploration expedition near present-day La Habra Heights; he also gave some land nearby to Julián García de la Vega for cattle pastures anduales. In 1853, when gold was discovered at Sutter’s Mill on Mono Lake, prospectors began moving into what would become Inglewood; many found success but others lost their holdings during the Panic of 1857. In 1872–73, Wm Hite built a lumber mill here in what is now Downtown Inglewood; it became one of Southern California’s leading mills through production of both high-quality wood products (spruce boards and other timbers) as well as processed foods such as peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Hite's mill closed in 1915 but reopened briefly in 1922 as a munitions plant before closing again for good permanently in 1945. The first post office serving this area was established at Chavez Ravine on October 15th, 1872; it was moved to its current location on May 20th century following incorporation by LAFD territory into Los Angeles County effective January 1st 1850 under Act No 722). In addition to mail delivered through personal delivery or stage coaches – until 1886 when mail Delivery Company streetcars started operations – customers also received newspapers which were brought into town by wagonloads throughout those years until they were replaced by trucks starting on April 1st 1889!
