The Irvine National Guard was founded on Jan. 15, 1941, in response to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. The guard soon became known for its patriotic and military style of dress and traditions. In 1949, the guard began providing emergency services in Orange County. From 1951-1963, the Irvine National Guard served as a training ground for the United States Coast Guard Reserve. In 1964, the Irvine National Guard was formally activated and became an independent branch of the U.S. military. Over time, the Irvine National Guard has become a major force in local community service and support of government functions throughout Orange County. In 1992-1994, members of the guard donated more than 2 million pounds of food to local hunger relief organizations statewide. This year alone, members have donated more than 10 million pounds of food to local agencies statewide through Operation Feeding America!
The National Guard is a term used to refer to the military forces of the United States of America. The Guardsman are regularly called upon to provide law enforcement and support services, as well as providing protection for Federal buildings and property. In addition, the Guardsmen also provide training for state and local police officers. The Guardsman have been part of American society since its inception. They were first organized into companies in 1792 during the Revolutionary War. The Militia Act of 1795 created a national guard system that included units from each state. The act also provided for the arming and drilling of guardsmen and authorized their use in time of peace or war on behalf of the federal government. The Militia Act was repealed by an act of Congress in 1802. The first permanent national guard unit was formed on July 1, 1812 when California became a republic and its own militia was raised pursuant to an act passed by Congress at that time. From then until 1865 there was no army within our borders that could be considered a national guard unit because there was no such thing as an independent nation within our borders at that time! However, due to events like the Mexican-American War (1846-1848) and Civil War (1861-1865), weaned off our reliance on militias, individual states started forming their own armies with troops drawn from their respective regiments/units not convertible into either service without special permission from Uncle Sam! In 1861, President Abraham Lincoln called up all Ulysses S Grant’s Army Corps comprising 9 divisions under his command totaling over 100 thousand men which had come overland from Missouri across Illinois only to find himself confronting Confederate General Robert E Metcalfe instead near Gettysburg PA while General George Meade remained in Baltimore MD with five divisions under his command operationalizing at Harper’s Ferry VA; these were just two examples illustrating how important it is for any commander having command over large numbers men who are mobilized suddenly onto an assignment never before attempted or contemplated to keep them together long enough actually accomplish anything!! After Lincoln’s assassination this changed dramatically with Union General Ulysses S Grant leading allhands against ConfederateGeneral Jubal Early at Appomattox Court House VA while Major Generals Ambrose Burnside ( functions as Commander-in-Chief), James Longstreet (Commanding Army Group A) & Franklin D Roosevelt Jr., Commanding Army Group B march through Virginia en route back home after successfully defending Petersburg; finally General Joseph Hooker commanding Third Corps marches into town behind Union lines resulting in one more example demonstrating how quickly things can change when you have someone who knows what he wants done! Nowadays, most individuals who would consider themselves members or fans of any sport know about professional teams such as footballers etc., however very few people even knew about existed prior to 1880 when Colonel John J ‘ Widener’ founded Stroudsburg Steel Company which produced steel helmets designed specifically for soldiers during various wars including American Revolution #1 - 2 & Mexican-American War #1 - 3 while serving with Pennsylvania Line Infantry Regiment stationed at Fort Duquesne PA; again another example highlighting just how popular sport today really is!!! One last note I feel compelled to make is regarding gift giving especially given today’s political climate where so much discussion surrounds social media platforms like Twitter etc.; definitely avoid sending gifts unless you know exactly what person you are gifting it To!!!

At this time Rowland Heights consisted only of Lot 1 which housed theRowlands' home and some outbuildings on other lots around it; all other lots were developed into homes or business districts over the years On July 15th 1916 David Hackett appointed John Hockaday as City Planner with instructions to develop land east of Yorba Linda Avenue into a town center with streets running north-south bisecting Yorba Linda Avenue In 1937 when Orange County became part of the U.S., Rowland Heights was annexed by Irvine under then City Planner Clifford Berryhill Clifford Berryhill planned cul-de-sac subdivisions here beginning with "New Beginnings" subdivision on October 4th 1936 followed by "Platinum Ridge" on January 5th 1938 On December 12th 1959 City Council adopted Resolutionombie designating certain roads within Riverside Drive--East Coast Boulevard/Cypress Road/Naglee Boulevard--as being in honor of Mayor Robert J . McCloy Sr., Jr., namesake and builderof Riverside Drive
