For those of you who have never tasted artisan coffee, it is a high-quality product that is made in small batches using unique and specific flavor profiles. The first coffee beans were roasted by José Andrés in the early 1800s on his farm in Kerman, California. These beans are still used today to make some of the most popular artisanal coffees around. The history of artisan coffee goes back even further than that. In 1916, Harry Jorgensen opened the first coffee shop in San Francisco and began making traditional Danish-style café coffee. From here, it was only a matter of time before other cities started to experience the same level of quality and diversity as San Francisco did. As coffee became more popular all over the world, different roasters popped up throughout California and elsewhere in North America. Some of these roasters such as Blue Bottle Coffee and our own La Colombe continue to produce top-tier artisanal coffees today while others like Peet's Coffee & Tea Center closed their doors for good in 2007 after many years of success. However, there is no doubt that Kerman's legacy will live on through its wide variety of delicious cupcakes!

The first coffee shop in Kerman, California was The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf in 1906. At the time, the town was located on a small piece of land adjacent to the then-nascent Kern River Valley. By 1912, there were six coffee shops in Kerman. In 1922, The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf moved to its current location at 5555 S Harrison St., which is now home to 3 other businesses including four restaurants. In 1948, The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf opened its second store in downtown Kernville. In 1957, Kerman's first drive-through Starbucks opened up in the old post office building on Main Street. In 1978, The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf closed its doors for good after more than 50 years of business. However, it reopened as a business center two years later under new ownership with a new name - Java Junction LLC. Java Junction went out of business again in 2002 but reopened as an independent coffee shop under new management three years later with a new name - Green & Blacks Incorporated. Today, there are over 30 coffee shops across Kern County with more than 1 million pounds of beans roasted each month!
Kerman is a city located in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 44,814 at the 2010 census. It is the most populous city in Kern County and second-most populous city in California. The current mayor is Aaron Peskin. Kerman is part of the San Joaquin Valley region which includes Fresno and Bakersfield. The Ohlone people inhabited this area for more than 10,000 years before being replaced by Spanish settlers in 1821. In 1848, Rancho Vaca de la Parral was sold to James Hance who named it after his father General José María Vaca de la Parral y Cisneros (1799-1863). In 1851, Hance sold parts of Rancho Vaca de la Parral to George Atherton for $5,000 ($ today). Atherton used the land for farming and development until he sold it to William Waddell in 1865 for $10,000 ($ today). Waddell named the town after his father Augustus Ewing Waddell (1811-1865). On July 26th 1870, Waddell founded what would become Kerman with 1 acre of land given him by Augustus Ewing Waddell. At first there were no buildings or any permanent residents as only a few small families lived there during those early years. In 1873, Kerman had its first school and within one year it had developed into a thriving town with over 100 residents. By 1880, over 200 homes had been built and by 1890 it had reached 400 residents according to Census records! There have been many advances made throughout the history of Kerman such as: becoming a center for agricultural production due to its location near major highways; hosting several annual meetings of state legislatures; serving as an important stop on stagecoaches traveling between Sacramento and Reno; becoming known as "the breadbasket of Kern" because of its large crop production; being home to four hospitals including one that became known as "the world’s oldest continuously operating hospital"; and finally becoming a full member of the United States Postal Service in 1978!

Coffee was first brought to Europe by Portuguese traders in the 15th century, and during the 16th century, Dutch traders also began to ship coffee back to Europe. In 1795, coffee was finally introduced to America by Captain James Cook on his exploration of Australia and New Zealand. The first commercial production of coffee took place in Brazil in 1824.
Kerman is a small town in Kern County, California, located on the banks of the Kern River. At the time of its incorporation as a city in 1907, it was the only incorporated community in Kern County. The population was 2,500 at its peak in 1911. Kerman's name comes from an early pioneer settler, Hiram Stockton. The first post office in Kerman was established on October 24, 1874 by J.E. Smith with the name of Redding (later renamed Redding City). There were also two private stores and three hotels before the city's incorporation. In 1907, Kerman became one of 56 cities to be created statewide as part of the newly formed United States state of California. The first mayor and council were elected at large with no districting into wards; all citizens who resided within city limits were eligible to vote for officials. In 1912, when World War I began, Kerman joined other American towns between Bakersfield and San Bernardino counties in support of America's war effort by raising money for war supplies through a municipal bond campaign that lasted until November 1918. When America entered World War II, Kerman again raised money for war supplies through a municipal bond campaign that ended on December 15th 1943 when President Franklin D Roosevelt declared war against Japan without providing any specific targets or assurances that such aid would not lead to military aggression by Japan towards America’s allies such as China and Russia which had helped enter World War II During our history we have seen many changes take place within our town including: -The arrival of automobiles which made life much easier for everyone including commuting to work - Growth in industry and commerce which led to increased development around town - The erection of schools and churches which provided jobs for local people during these difficult times
In 1848, Kerman was founded by the brothers Charles and Johnathan Wimmer. The town became an important agricultural center in the late 19th century, with a large irrigation system and a population of around 100 residents. In 1916, Kerman was merged with nearby Shasta City to form the city of Shasta.
