In 1858, Kerman became part of Yuba County and growth continued until 1860 when it became part of Placer County. In 1872, Kerman incorporated as a city and remained so until 1959 when it became an open-air air community under state law passed that year. Today, Kerman is known for its agricultural production including grapes, apples, almonds and several other vegetables; its wine industry; its waterfalls; and its many cultural attractions like the Old Oxbow Museum which has displays on early American life and culture
