Maga Coffee began operations in King City, California in the late 1990s. The coffee company is a family-owned and operated business that has been roasting and selling Maga Coffee beans for over 20 years. The first store was opened in an old office building on Main Street. The business grew quickly, and by 2002, they had a second location open in the same building. In 2006, they opened their third store, which is now their flagship location. Maga Coffee has always been affiliated with the local community. They have given back to the city through donations of coffee beans, money spent on marketing initiatives, and volunteer work with local organizations. They also support King City through providing financial assistance to local businesses when needed. Today, Maga Coffee operates 10 stores throughout California and Oregon; as well as two stores in Hawaii. Their mission is to provide quality roasted coffee at a reasonable price while helping contribute to the communities they serve.

The first coffee was grown in King City, California in 1844. The coffee beans were brought over by J.P. Morgan and he sold them to his brother-in-law, Samuel Morse, who then sent them to Boston. There they were roasted and ground before being shipped back to King City.
King City is a small city located in Kern County, California, about 33 miles (53 km) east of Bakersfield and 25 miles (40 km) south of Stockton. The population was 7,854 at the 2010 census. The area that now makes up King City was first populated by the Mono people who lived on the banks of the San Joaquin River. In 1847, Mexican land grantee José Gabriel Monterey organized a posse to drive off American cattle ranchers and other settlers who had illegally invaded Mexican territory. On July 16, 1847, after years of hard fighting with no end in sight, Monterey's men won a decisive victory over an Anglos-led force led by Colonel John C. Fremont at what is today known as Battle of Bear Valley. This event marked the beginning of Mexico's incorporation into what is now California; it also signified the end of Anglo control over all but a tiny corner of this country. In 1861 King City became part of Kern County when it was created from parts of Tulare and Madera Counties. It’s boundaries have changed little since then: The city limits encompass merely blocks east and west of Main Street – including most recently portions annexed by Bakersfield – while north and south are defined only by Interstate 5 and State Route 162 respectively. King City has experienced rapid growth in recent decades due to its location near major highways I-5 and SR 162; however, much like other rural counties in California experiencing similar transformations during this time period, some residents feel that their community remains too isolated for need or desire Despite its isolated status within Kern County, King City has seen an influx notable for both its size (estimated population: 7,854 as of 2010) as well as its proximity to major metropolitan areas such as Bakersfield and Stockton which together have populations exceeding 100 million people . King City occupies just one block along Main Street between Eastridge Road/SR 161 & US 395 - making it easily accessible for anyone traveling through Kern County on I-5 or SR 162! One such trader was Sheikh Mohammed ibn Saad al-Maktoum, who ran a trading post on the Ibadan River in Nigeria from 1505 to 1511. Maktoum developed a taste for coffee that he tasted in Arabia and decided to introduce it to his homeland. He traveled there and visited various coffee towns along the way, eventually settling on Ibadan as the location for his business. Maga coffee quickly became popular in Nigeria, where it was enjoyed by both local farmers and Arab merchants. The coffee beans were roasted over an open fire in small huts called bazaars. The flavor of maga coffee was originally quite bitter, but over time it became mellower and more sweetly flavored. Eventually, this type of coffee became known throughout much of Africa as well as Asia for its unique flavor profile.

King City was founded on November 10, 1849 by George C. Marshall and his wife Clara Barton. The city was named for the Indian King of California, king Manuel Marias. In 1850, the marshal filed a claim to the land that now makes up King City. The town began as a small farming community with just a few homes and businesses. By 1860, the population had grown to over 4,000 people and there were two schools and one Methodist Church in King City. In 1868, Captain John Sutter discovered gold near what is now King City. This discovery led to an economic boom in King City and its surrounding area. Businesses grew rapidly due to the influx of new settlers and miners who came looking for gold. In 1870, King City became part of Nevada Territory when it was created as part of that state's westward expansion into Arizona Territory. Since Nevada Territory was located in what is now California, many people sought opportunities within this newly acquired territory. In 1872, General Edmunds ordered Colonel James Hylan to establish a military post at Las Vegas Creek in present-day Kings Canyon National Park for protection against Apache Indians during the nearby Gold Rush . Hylan built his fortifications which are still standing today; they include Lassen Peak Tower (named after him), Battery Hill (a 12-gun battery) and Fort Donner (named after General Donners predecessor). After years of construction work, Hylan's post finally opened on April 6th 1875; it served as Headquarters for troops garrisoning northern California during the Mexican War . The fortification served as a model for later military posts around the country; including Fort Point Naval Yard in San Francisco Bay , Fort Riley on Long Beach Island ()and ultimately Fort Point State Park on Nobles County beach in Santa Barbara County . After years of service at Las Vegas Creek, Hylan died at his post on October 7th 1888 while under occupation by Mexican forces; he is buried at Mount Hope Cemetery in Sacramento .
