King City, California is a small city located in Fresno County, California. The population was 7,483 at the 2010 census. It is the most populous city in Fresno County and the third-most populous city in California. The King City Metropolitan Statistical Area had a population of 18,557 as of 2018. The first town in what is now King City was called Indianola. A post office was established there on March 25, 1853, and it remained an open post until November 14, 1861 when it was closed because of the Mexican-American War.
