After the war, many civilian workers moved into Kingsburg from surrounding towns because of new jobs available at Chico Army Depot or because they wanted to escape wartime inflationary pressures. Many businesses that had been established before World War II continue operating today including The Kwik Shop (a grocery store), Golden Corral restaurant, ABC News TV station (now KABC-TV), San Francisco State University's School of Business Administration, and several churches such as First Baptist Church (now megachurch Kingdom Chapel) and Christ Episcopal Cathedral (now St Peters Cathedral). The population of Kingsburgh reached its peak around 2000 when most everyone who had grown up there had retired or left for bigger settlements elsewhere in California or elsewhere in North America altogether; however it has since declined somewhat due mainly to immigration from Mexico over the last few decades which has replaced some manufacturing jobs with low paying Mexican labor
