Kingsburg is a small, rural community located in San Joaquin County, California. It is situated on the banks of the Sacramento River, approximately 20 miles south of Fresno and 30 miles northwest of Merced. The community was founded by immigrants who arrived in 1849. The first post office was established in Kingsburg in 1853. The name derives from the John Cranch family that settled there in 1836. In 1850, Kingsburg became part of Mexico and no longer had any English speaking residents. However, over time Kingsburg slowly regained its English speaking population and now has a population of around 100 people who are mainly Hispanic or Latino. Kingsburg is known for its irrigated agriculture which produces hay/cattle/poultry products as well as vegetables such as tomatoes, onions, lettuce, watermelons etc. There are also a few businesses including an agricultural store and several restaurants which serve Mexican-American cuisine. Although it lacks some amenities found in larger cities such as shopping malls or hospitals, Kingsburg provides some basic services like schools and fire departments that are important to its residents. The town was first chartered on February 17, 1859 by Augustus Deane King under the name Indianna; however this name never caught on because no one could remember where it originated from (possibly derived from “king” being too similar to Spanish). A year later on March 2nd 1860 when two men named George Wadleigh came across land that would become Kingsbury they changed the name to Kingsborough after their home county of Yorkshire England (now North Yorkshire). On July 15th 1861 the towns post office received a letter containing news about an upcoming gold strike at Sutter’s Mill outside Stockton so they changed their name back to Indianna just in case anyone found out! In 1865 oil began flowing out of Ruidoso Canyon making mining opportunities available nearby which led to increased development within the area including housing subdivision styled “Kingsburys” popping up all over town along with lumberyards doing business as “Kingsburys Lumber Company” etc… Shortly thereafter Indians were forced out of California due to heavy influxes of white settlers so most activity within town stopped until after World War II when farming resumed following improved irrigation technology brought about by Gold Rush growth elsewhere

Kingsburg is a small town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 1,964 at the 2010 census. It is located near Bakersfield and its sister towns of Tecumseh and Chico. Kingsburg was founded in 1872 by John Kingsbury as a sawmill town on the banks of the Kern River. The town quickly developed into a agricultural center with fruit orchards, dairy farms, and rice plantations. In 1932, Kingsburg became an incorporated city after being chosen as one of five finalists for the location of the new U.S. Air Force Base at Sanger Field. The community continued to grow through World War II as military personnel moved in to service at Sanger Field and local businesses grew to provide housing and services for soldiers and their families. By 1948, Kingsburg had become home to over 30 businesses including four grocery stores, six tractor companies, two movie theaters, a post office (the first in Kern), two banks (the first in Kern), two schools (one public and one private), a water tower/pumping station/,and three churches (two Catholic and one Protestant). In recent years, Kingsburg has experienced steady growth with development of new homesites along the riverfront boulevard artery known as "The Boulevard." Kingsburg's unique feature is its small-town feel which is also captured by its downtown which consists only of a single store building from 1922 that still stands today and contains many nostalgic items from that era such as radios , TVs etc., along with other memorabilia from Kingsbury's time there including high school uniforms worn by students during that era
