The La Canada Flintridge Coast Guard Station was established in 1934. The station is located on the Pismo Beach Peninsula, about fifteen miles east of downtown La Canada Flintridge. At its inception, the coast guard had only four men and a small boat. Today, the station has a staff of 36 people and an arsenal of donated equipment and materials. In 1934, the Coast Guard Station in La Canada Flintridge received gifts from various individuals and businesses in order to improve their capabilities. Some of these donations included two small boats, three lifeboats, a Harbor Master’s Office, two launches, an ice cream truck, a gasoline engine for boating purposes and $1,000 in cash. In 1935-1936 also received were two large rubber rafts which had been donated by Mrs. Jane Ladd McIver of Redding California. These rafts allowed for increased patrols off Pismo Beach as well as providing recreation for local students during school breaks. In 1936-1937 another donation arrived when Mrs. Fannie Ford made contact with the Coast Guard through her friend Alice Brownell who worked at the La Hacienda Resort on San Diego Bay . She offered to provide gift cards to all customers at her resort for expenses incurred while on vacation along with any new items or supplies that may be needed by the Coast Guard while performing their duties including food storage devices etc.. This event is considered to be one of most significant gifts given to the coast guard by anyone within laCanada Flintridge area as it helped increase resources available to help protect our coastline from potential threats such as piracy and drug smuggling Also during this time period donations came in from individuals such as Mr./Mrs., Edwin Waugh (Mr./MRS.), Harry Wayman (Harry), Ethel Byington (Ethel) Johnstone(Johnston) & Sons(Joint Stock Company). Most notable among these was the donation of three heavy fishing vessels – PCS Catalina , SS John Acheson & SS Empire State which totaled $5,- 000 . This donation not only increased our ability to patrol our waters but also gave us access to larger supplies allowing us to more effectively tackle even greater size fish In 1938-1939 another important gift was delivered when Mrs.-Lillian Weisner made contact with Headquarters requesting that they send a flotilla down into Mexico City so she could present medals honoring members of various organizations who had served aboard Navy ships during World War II There were many contributions like this throughout World War II as different organizations offered their goods or services in order support military efforts

La Canada Flintridge is a small town in Los Angeles County, California. The population was 1,824 at the 2010 census. It is located on the corner of La Canada Boulevard and Flintridge Drive. The name "La Canada" comes from the Mexica Indian word "lahuaca," meaning "the place I will go." The first post office opened in 1884, and the first store was built in 1886. La Canada is named after two Spanish missionaries who came to California in 1847: Don José Francisco de la Costa y Aguilar and Father Miguel Domínguez. Flintridge Drive was originally called Villa Rica Boulevard because it ran through what is now Villa Rica Village. On July 14, 1951, Mayor Harry Cisneros signed an ordinance naming the community after General James Kapp's daughter Laetitia Kapp Chandler (1868-1951). Laetitia married Edmund Hanks (1888-1966), son of American businessman Ernest Hanks (1863-1936). The original schools were built as part of Project 2281 which renovated many old school buildings throughout Los Angeles County during the1950s and 1960s. In 1957 construction began on Granada Elementary School which would become one of America's tallest elementary schools until its demolition in 2009 due to budget cuts by then-Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. In 1959 construction began on Vista del Lago Middle School which would become one of America's largest middle schools until its demolition in 2009due to budget cuts by then-Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger also new high school development planned for neighboring Granada High School; though no action has been taken since then to finalize that project either.
