From these stores, they began to sell coffee beans floor by floor until they had a permanent location on College Avenue in 1924. This location served as their headquarters until they moved to their current location on University Boulevard in 1958. Today, Peet's Coffee remains one of the biggest players in the industry with over 350 locations across North America. Maxwell House Coffee has also been very influential over the years and continues to produce high-quality coffee products today. Their locations can be found throughout North America including Canada (including Quebec), Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Denmark, Norway and Germany among others. La Canada Flintridge, California is a town in San Bernardino County, California. The population was 10,711 at the 2000 census.
La Canada Flintridge is a small community in the San Joaquin Valley of California. It is located about 25 miles east of Fresno, on the border of Kern and Tulare Counties. The community was founded in 1893 by Scots-Irish immigrants who had come to cross the US – Mexico border. La Canada Flintridge has a population of just over 900 people today, most of whom are American citizens or permanent residents. The town was named for La Canada Creek, which flows through it. The creek's name comes from the Mexican word "lapacho" meaning "bank." In 1853, when US troops were stationed at Fort Tejon, they discovered some Indian artifacts near La Canada Creek and decided to name the creek after them. The original settlers arrived on horseback and wagons from County Clare, Ireland. They built log homes and began trading goods with other communities in the area. By 1907, there were also stores and a post office in LaCanada Flintridge. In 1916, during World War I, Japanese soldiers invaded California and burned down many agricultural villages before reaching LaCanada Flintridge. As a result of this attack, many Scotch-Irish Americans fled to Arizona or Texas because their homes were destroyed or confiscated by the Japanese military authorities. In 1949, when LaCanada Flintridge became an incorporated village (it had been an unincorporated area since 1896), its first mayor was Hilda Meeks Wright (a native of nearby Clovis). La Canada Flintridge, California is a small town in the Mojave Desert of Southern California. Its population was 7,000 at the 2010 census. The name "La Canada" comes from the Hahamatapan language and means "place of blue corn." The first European to visit La Canada was Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo on November 14, 1542. He landed here during his first voyage across the Pacific Ocean. The post office at La Canada was established in 1879. It served as the junction for several ranches that later became part of La Canada Flintridge. As a result of its location in close proximity to other settlements and its easy access to water resources, La Canadia growth was rapid during its early years. In 1902, when San Bernardino County was created, La Canadia became part of it. In 1912, it incorporated as an unincorporated community under the name "Flintridge". By 1915 it had grown sufficiently to be moved from its original site on Elm Street eastward onto what is now 4th Avenue South. At that time it had a population of 3200 people and included 322 residences with gardens and tennis courts inside them; there were also eight stores and two hotels within walking distance of the post office and six miles (10 km) away by wagon road from Rancho Cucamonga's largest water supply outlet on Plitvice Lakes National Park boundary line
The La Canada Flintridge area of California was originally inhabited by the Mono people. The area was first explored by Spanish explorers in 1542, and it was claimed by Mexico in 1821. The United States acquired the land from Mexico in 1848, and it became part of California. The Flintridge community developed around a military base that was used during World War II. The community also grew as a result of the development of the nearby Highway 101 freeway.
