The population was 3,471 at the 2010 census. The first post office in La Canada Flintridge was established on November 2, 1887. At that time, there were only two people living here- John Fenton and his wife Sarah. In 1895, a school was built and named after Mrs. Fenton- La Canada School District #2 (later renamed to Kern Valley Unified School District).Today there are three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school within LaCanada Flintridge limits- all operated by Kern Valley Unified School Districts! The community experienced some growth during World War II as many residents enlisted in military service! Once the war ended, many residents returned to their normal lives; however, a small number of them decided to stay behind and start their own businesses! In 1957, LaCanada Flintridge had its first professional football game when it played against Bakersfield High School; it lost 16-4! It wasn't until 1978 when they hosted their first NCAA Division I football game when they faced Cal Poly Pomona; they won 20-7! In 1984 they became an independent city! In 1990 they made history by becoming home to their very first NASCAR race when they hosted the Riverside 500 event!! Today we continue our role as an important community with our numerous events such as cultural festivals and summer music festivals!!!
