The city of La Canada Flintridge began implementing a municipal budget on December 1, 1916. This led to the establishment of the Police Department which included fifteen sworn officers and one sergeant. On November 25, 1926, an agreement was made between Mayor Haddon Waddell and Deputy Chief William Grimes that provided for the purchase of a new patrol car and also allowed for the donation of an old fire truck. The first police car arrived in 1927 and it is believed that this car was donated by Deputy Chief Grimes. On October 2nd, 1951, Mayor Averill Collins announced that he would be retiring at the end of his term on January 3rd, 1952 which caused a lot of excitement within the community because no one knew if they would get a new mayor or if there would be any changes to their current departmental structure. However, on January 4th, 1952 Mayor Collins announced that he had decided not to retire but would instead serve out his full term as an acting mayor until he could be appointed permanent mayor by vote of the citizens before Christmas Eve 1952 On December 15th Constable Art Powell became permanent constable after being recommended by Mayor Collins On February 15th 1953 Captain Harry Satterwhite who had originally been attached to Patrol District 6 resigned effective date because he became head coach at Chabot High School . After captain Satterwhite’s resignation all duties associated with Patrol District 6 were transferred over to Constabulary Section 8 which later became known as Anti-Crime Unit

La Canada Flintridge is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 17,007 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Los Angeles metropolitan area. La Canada Flintridge is located on the edge of rolling hills that lead down to the Indian Wells Valley below. The name "La Canada" comes from Spanish and means "the place where Canadian trees grow." The name was given to the community by Captain James Fenton in 1881 because he saw trees that looked like those found in Canadá (Canada). La Canada's first post office was established in 1886. Flintridge began as a small agricultural town with 7 families in 1887 when Colonel George W. Pratt donated land for a town center and schoolhouse. In 1895, wooden buildings were erected for the town hall and courthouse which remain today as municipal building and police headquarters respectively In 1907, after much discussion about what type of government should be organized here there were two decisions made: First it be an unincorporated municipality (it wasn't until 1912 when it became incorporated) and Second it be self-governing with its own Board of Supervisors. This decision meant that this tiny community had more power than any other community within San Bernardino County - even though it only had 17 residents at the time! In 1924, construction began on one of America's largest airfields – Glenn Horman Airport - making La Canada one of the first communities to experience aviation! Today many people who live near airport property work careers outside of Indianapolis or other major cities while still living close enough to visit their loved ones every day! Incidentally, LCA also has one of America’s most beautiful beaches - just minutes away from our doorstep!
