Maga Coffee has been a part of the La Mesa community for over 60 years. The company was founded in 1924 by Harry and Hazel Maga. Harry started the business with his brother, John Maga. The first magasins were located in a small garage on Euclid Avenue. In 1948, the brothers opened their first store on Magnolia Boulevard in La Mesa. Harry and Hazel Maga passed away in 1957 and 1961, respectively, but their son remained active in the business until his death in 1984. After Harry's death, Allen Maga took over as CEO of maga coffee company. He continued to operate the company until it was sold to Nestle AG in 1997.
La Mesa, California is located in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County. The population was 77,774 at the 2010 census. La Mesa is a small town with a large university. It is also known for its annual La Mesa Arts Festival which features local and international artists. The first people to live in what is now La Mesa were the Tongva people who lived near Mission Trails Bluff on the border of Pasadena and Monrovia. In 1821, Judge James Irvine bought Rancho Santa Margarita from Manuel Nieto for $1,000. The land that makes up present-day La Mesa was part of this rancho until it was sold to José Hidalgo in 1844 as part of Rancho Jurupa de la Salinas. In 1846, Captain Antonio Canoga built his Adobe Fort at what is now corner of Main Street and Sixty-fourth Street in what is today's downtown La Mesa. This fort served as a garrison for Canoga's cattle drive westward overland from Tejon Pass through Sonora into California during the Mexican-American War (1846–48). After Mexico lost the war, Canoga returned to his adobe fort and continued to farm here until his death in 1861. His wife Pilar Garcia can be found buried at Fort Antonio Canoga National Monument adjacent to his fortification remains today. In 1851, David Jardine married Maria Elena Sanchez and acquired two tracts of land east of Mission Road between Knights Parkway and Alpine Drive for $10 per acre ($2 million total). This acquisition marked the beginning of what would become much later known as "Jardine Park." As developmentulated on this parcel - Harbinger Elementary School began operation on Valentine's Day 1912 - many residents Dawn Jardine (wife), Don Yount (husband) Garry Baca (father), Larry Ellison (son) opened their homes around Sunrise Boulevard SW where they raised chickens, ducks, pigs and cows until annexation by City Hall put an end to their agricultural pursuits in 1935; however some tradition continues with everyday home cooked meals available year round out Sunrise Boulevard SW

La Mesa is a small town in San Diego County, California, located on the border of La Mesa and Miramar. The population was 7,815 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Mexicanate community of La Mesa. The area now known as La Mesa was first settled by Native Americans in present-day Oceanside and Vista. Rancho Encarnación was granted to Juan Bautista de Anza in 1821, and became Rancho Los Coyotes in 1824. The land encompassing what is now La Mesa was purchased from Anza's heirs by Major General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna after his victory over Mexico at Palo Alto on February 17, 1847. Santa Anna named it San Diego for himself and ordered Spanish settlers to move out by September 1, 1848. The townsite that would become La Mesa was platted on October 15, 1889 by Hiram Sibley with post office name "Bounty". At its incorporation as a city on November 16, 1912 (by popular vote), it had a population of 2,500 people living along East Mission Street west of downtown. A fire destroyed most of the downtown business district on December 3rd but spared the east side which would be renamed "Old Town" later that year when businesses moved to new quarters around First Avenue and North Main Street east of Mission Street during reconstruction following World War II. On July 14th 1951 an earthquake measuring 6.3 struck Southern California making it one of only two US states struck with an earthquake greater than 8 Richter magnitude (the other being Japan). Many structures were damaged or destroyed including churches such as Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Church located near Antelope Valley Road just south of I-5 Exit 133A which collapsed killing 5 children ages 4 through 12 inside; this event also caused extensive damage to homes within blocks radius including many frame homes still standing today although some have been replaced by more recent construction
On July 24, 1847, La Mesa was founded as a rancho by José María Cisneros. The first post office was established in La Mesa on December 5, 1848. It moved to its current location on the east side of town on May 4, 1860. The city of La Mesa was consolidated with Tijuana on April 14, 1912.
