But by 1960 its population had grown to more than three thousand persons—more than any other community in San Diego County! What makes La Mirada so special is not just its size but also its location: right on the beach! And although it's not an officially “developed” area like Beverly Hills or Encinitas, plenty of well-to-do locals still call la ciudad suya (their city). This relative tranquility has helped keep things relatively low key for residents and businesses alike: no high school or shopping center nearby
