The La Palma National Guard was established in 1907 as the local militia of the town of La Palma. The first national guard unitHAHA was organized on November 10, 1917 with over 50 men from the community. The unit disbanded in 1918 due to lack of funding and never again fielded a military arm. In 1951, the town built a new police station and decided to name their new force the La Palma National Guard. This designation lasted until 1972 when it was changed back to its original name, the San Fernando Valley Police Department. In 1984, after years of negotiations and changes within both agencies, the City Council decided that all units within the LA PALMA NATIONAL GUARD should be merged together into one entity known as “the San Fernando Valley National Guard” effective January 1st, 1985. The San Fernando Valley National Guard has played an important role in every step of our history since it was created and we are grateful for their support!

The United States National Guard has a long and proud history of giving back to society. From the founding of the National Guard in 1792 to present day, the Guards have provided service to our country in many ways. In 1907, Congress passed an act that created the U.S. Army Reserve, which was then known as the National Military Division (NMD). The NMD was made up of units from each state and territory, as well as Territorial units from Mexico and Canada. The Militia Act of 1903 authorized establishment of Regional Reservations for training for national defense purposes within each state. In 1947, Congress amended the Militia Act to create the National Guard Bureau (NGB), which became responsible for all military activities by state militias including training and cadet programs at military academies and providing support for State Guard troops deployments abroad during wartime periods. The first unit activated under NGB jurisdiction was the 45th Infantry Regiment located in New York City on September 16, 1947. NGB units were also activated to provide security at VIP events such as Reagan’s inauguration that required special forces protection due to their high importance in America’s defense strategy at that time. Today, there are over 12 million active duty National Guardsmen serving across this great Nation with a mission to protect our people and homeland 24/7/365!

The City of La Palma was founded in 1853 by Don Manuel de la Costa y Valdez as a Spanish settlement on the island of Isla La Palma. The city quickly grew to become one of the most important ports on Isla La Palma, and its industry helped to create a prosperous economy for the island. In 1863, La Palma became part of Mexico and was renamed Ciudad de México. However, during the Mexican Revolution (1910-1920), La Palma sided with the Southern Army and was sacked by Mexican forces. As a result, the city lost much of its economic power and declined into obscurity. In 1932, however, Mayor José Gomez Martínez resurrected efforts to make La Palma an active center for cultural and artistic production within Mexico. He called for development of new neighborhoods within the city limits and urged residents to participate in local politics. This led to increased support for mayorhood amongLaPalmans who saw their city as their home turf. In 1938, Mayor García Márquez granted official status to La Palma as an autonomous municipality within Mexico City. During World War II, when Isla La Palma was occupied by Japan due to its strategic location between Baja California and Central America, Los Angeles offered hope that La Palman would be saved from occupation; however no such offer was made either from Madrid or Tokyo. Nevertheless, many people evacuated to Isla LaPalmá during WWII because they believed that it would be taken over by Japan if left unoccupied; this belief proved false and both IslaLaPalmänandLACity were liberated from Japanese occupation on September 2nd 1945 vowing never again be under Japanese rule without our consent or agreement! Since liberation there have been numerous efforts towards developing the city into a successful tourist destination with various initiatives like promotion of artsy walks around town while also creating more opportunities for nightlife activities which has seen some decline but still remains high comparedto other places in North America! There are now several famous hotels such as Shangri-La Hotel & Spa which is located right next door Chinatown – making it easy access even if you don’t want tourists in your midst
On October 26, 1846, Mexican nationals José Altamirano and Manuel García founded the town of La Palma on the island of Santa Catalina. The town became an American territory in 1848. On April 29, 1861, La Palma was acquired by the United States as part of the following Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo: "The United States recognizes and agrees to receive as a part of its territor yion San Diego de la Laguna y las Islas de Catalunya una isla situada en el extremoeste de dicha laguna y sobre el río Puyo; asimismo cede su propiedad al Concejo General de California."
