The Constitution was decommissioned in 1865 and used as storage until 1912 when it was delivered to the City of Ventura and placed into service as the Ventura County Courthouse Ship. In 1938, she was leased by the City of La Verne and renamed the North County Courthouse Ship. She served as a aids-to-the-victory during World War II until being sunk off Point Conception on May 30, 1945. After heruction from active service, she lay at anchor at Point Conception until her restoration in 1951 that saw her rehomed back into service with the City of LaVerne once again. She currently serves as both an aid-to-the-victory museum ship and community resource for local residents and businesses alike.

La Verne is a city in Ventura County, California, United States. The population was 27,824 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Ventura County and part of the Los Angeles metropolitan area. La Verne was founded by Californios who were expelled from Mission San Gabriel Arcangelico in 1843. The first post office in La Verne was established on July 15, 1849, by personnel of the USS Enterprise under Captain David Wainwright. The name "Verona" was given to it by Commodore John C. Hall while he commandeered the Enterprise on his way to visit Mexico City. The first store in Laverne opened on December 17, 1850, on Main Street between Second and Third Streets near present-day Mira Mesa High School (now known as East Side Senior High School). In 1851 Jens Christensen started a grocery store at 7th and Municipal streets west of downtown La Verne which became one of the largest groceries in Southern California until consolidation with Safeway three years later In 1857 Charles Hahn acquired land east of town from James Lubbock for $1 per acre; this became Hahn Park today. In 1861 Anna Dickinson started a school (later Santa Barbara High School) that taught children above grade level before classes began at Rancho Seco Elementary School which opened two years later due to overcrowding at Santa Barbara Junior College (now Tufts University). Hahn donated most of his land to build what is now Olmsted Regional Medical Center - one of Northern California's largest hospital systems - when he died in 1910. A year earlier he had also helped found Monterrey Airport northwest of town along Interstate 5 where commercial airlines originated starting passenger service more than 50 years ago today! A fire destroyed much of center city Laverne during an early morning blitzkrieg raids by US forces against Mexican insurgents Codetown during November 1942 as part as Operation Stratholme . Some sources say up to 100 homes were destroyed with over 1,500 people killed including women and children fleeing their burning homes! As part as retaliation for American military action code-named "Crossroads", Mexican troops burned down about 100 businesses across Ventura County during that raid! Today there are few reminders or marks remaining from that time period aside from some broken glass from storefronts and occasional graffiti
