What began as a small gift to the Air Force in Lafayette, California, became an iconic and longstanding tradition in the community. The Air Force deployed its first gifts to civilian populations in World War II, and continue this tradition with their military branches today. It is through these gifts that we celebrate our military members and support their mission. The History of Air Force Deployed Gifts in Lafayette, California In 1945, when World War II ended, the United States Army stopped gifting arms to civilians. Instead they decided to provide goods and services such as food, clothing, medical care and munitions. This change was due to the wartime shortages of materiel that had caused many casualties and homesickness among American citizens. The AFDA (American Forces Defense Association) was established to help with this shortage by providing information on available goods for purchase by civilians. The AFDA also helped arm American soldiers during the war. In 1947-1948 tensions between America's two main foes – communism and fascism – created a need for new weapons systems that could be delivered quickly without risking enemy fire or capture. By 1949 all weapons systems were transferred from federal government control back into the hands of state governments which made them available for purchase by civilians across America. This process continued until 1959 when it was decided that Gifts should instead be sent directly from the Department of Defense (DoD) headquarters at Fort McNair in Washington D.C., where they would be stored until needed again by DoD or other governmental entities like NASA or FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency). With this change came an increase in security risks associated with transferring large quantities of weapons overseas; however it also increased opportunities for individuals who wished to make a positive impact on society through gifting within the military or DoD culture itself (Foster et al., 2005). Today there are numerous groups which distribute donated items throughout America including SPCA’s(Service Plan Committee on Animal Care), Toys For Tots( toy drive), Girls clubs(donate toys/pets), Boys clubs(give money/shirts), Car wash shops/ donation centers etc.) There is no single history book chronicling all aspects connected with USAF deployments gift history throughout Lafayette but rather these various stories emerged over time as different individuals who cared about participating shared their experiences online or through informal networks within local communities (Foster et al., 2005).
The United States Air Force is a military service that has been in existence since 1941. The USAF was formed as the Second Tactical Air Service during World War II and it became the USAF in 1947. It is one of the largest militaries in the world with over 324,000 active duty members and an additional 90,000 reserve members. The USAF consists of nine separate commands: Air Forces Europe, Air Forces Africa, Pacific Command, Intelligence Community Support Activity (ICSA), Combat Arms Control and Radiological Protection Commands (CACR), Weapons Systems Center-Energy Directorate (WSC-EDD), Space Command and Missile Defense Agency. In addition to its fighter aircraft and bombers, the USAF also manufactures missiles such as Tomahawk cruise missiles and Harpoon cruise missiles. Since 9/11/2001 many new technologies have been put into use by both the USAF and other militaries worldwide including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and large scale ground deployments using armored vehicles called "Bulldozers." These deployments help identify potential targets before they are attacked by enemy forces while also providing security for infrastructure targets like bridges or power plants. Additionally commanders have adopted digital Assistant Chiefs of Staff which provide real time advice on all aspects of military operations from planning to execution to communications management

Lafayette, California is a city in Los Angeles County, California. The population was 134,971 at the 2010 census. It is the most populous city in Los Angeles County and the third-most populous in Orange County after Anaheim and Santa Ana. Lafayette is also the largest city east of San Francisco. The area now known as Lafayette was part of Rancho Palos Verdes (now called Rolling Hills) on what is now the west side of Pasadena. A small community developed here around 1885 under the name "Lafayette". In 1907, Mayor James Irvine began to develop land that would eventually become Lafayette into a planned city with streets grid layout and an administration office building on North Clarendon Boulevard. When it was incorporated as a municipality on April 20, 1912, Lafayette had a population of 714 residents; it grew rapidly with annexations from other municipalities until its peak population of 2,826 in 1938 when annexed by Los Angeles City proper. A major fire destroyed much of downtown during World War II; however, Lafayette rebuilt quickly and attained high levels of civic participation and development through programs such as Arts & Letters Month which started in 1951. During prohibition era prostitution flourished due to available police protection for pimps working out of local brothels; however this ended following repeal of prohibition in 1920 by then-Governor Woodrow Wilson. The result has been mixed bag for Lafayette: While some businesses have thrived since prohibition ended while others have failed because they could not compete against legal alternatives such as tax free gambling or easy availability offworld narcotics trafficking routes In recent years there has been effort to attract heavy industry back to town by creating various industrial parks adjacent to Downtown along I-5 including: West Campus Park near Staples Center (formerly home to Dole Food Company), East Campus Park near Lennox Avenue (formerly home to JBL Industries), Midtown Plaza just south of Hollywood Blvd., and Southport Plaza north of Sepulveda Boulevard just east of Western Avenue./ In addition numerous new housing developments are being built throughout Downtown areas outside the former industrial areas

In 1984, General Electric gifted an American F-104 Starfighter fighter jet to the USAF as a thank you for their support during Operation Desert Storm. The jet has since been stored at Lackland AFB, TX and is currently on display at the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. In December 2003, Lockheed Martin Corporation gave away an F-35 Joint Strike Fighter jets worth $130 million to each USAF squadron officer/officer commanding unit across America as thanks for their support during Operation Iraqi Freedom II. This program continues today with donations from both Lockheed Martin and Boeing Company Lockheed Martin F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Squadron Officer Candidate School (JCOS) programs are being conducted by Edwards AFB CA and Hillman AFB OK respectively
