This led to increased development around Glendale Boulevard with few people living in eastern Laguna Hills anymore

Today, Laguna Hills remains one of Southern California's fastest-growing communities with an estimated population growth rate over 10% each year since 2000
Laguna Hills began as a small, rural community in southern California. The area now includes the towns of Laguna Niguel and La Jolla and the city of Irvine. In 1915, two brothers, George and Harry Laguna, purchased land in what is now Laguna Hills. They built a small cabin on their property to use as their summer home. The couple also started a cattle ranch thatprovided milk for local farms. In 1928, the brothers sold their holdings in Laguna Hills to Payson Hargrave. Hargrave developed the area into a major citrus production center with several fruit orchards, cotton fields, and farming villages. He also constructed several homes and businesses including The Ranch House hotel which still stands today. During World War II, the lagunas produced fruits and vegetables for Army bases stationed in Southern California. After the war ended, many people moved to Laguna Hills from all over Southern California to take advantage of its growing industry. In 1984, The Ranch House was voted one of America's Top Ten Restaurants by "The New York Times". Today it remains one of Orange County's most popular tourist destinations with its traditional architecture and delicious food
