Laguna Hills is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States. The population was 82,394 at the 2010 census. It is located on Laguna Beach Boulevard and east of downtown Los Angeles. The climate in this area is Mediterranean. In 1853, Mexican land grants were made to prominent Californians José Guadalupe Pico and Antonio Bautista de Anza. The two men named their rancho after the hills near their home town of Caracas, Venezuela where they had been born. Laguna Hills was incorporated as a city on November 14, 1922. On July 15, 1929 it annexed part of Hermosa Beach. On October 7, 1932 the eastern border of Hermosa Beach was changed from Imperial Beach to make way for the new city and its annexation by Laguna Hills. In 1942 Laguna Hills became one of six cities in Hollywood that joined together to form the Hollywood Citizens League (HCL). This group helped to rally against World War II by protesting military production outside of Los Angeles and creating an advertising campaign called "Hollywood Can't Wait". In 1948 HCL disbanded when many members left to join other political organizations during the Cold War boom period

Laguna Hills is a town in Orange County, California, United States. The population was 35,871 at the 2010 census. It is the most populous incorporated community in Orange County and second most populous city in the county after Laguna Beach. The first recorded mention of Laguna Hills may be from 1824 when it was part of Rancho San Francisco de Asis (now known as East Orange). In 1872, John Sutter settled on the site of what would become Laguna Hills and built his mill there. The first post office opened in 1865. By 1880, there were over 50 residents living in Laguna Hills. Laguna Hills became a city on December 12, 1911 with a vote by its residents. At that time it had a population of 6,500 people; however by 1920 it had increased to 10,000 people and then 15,000 by 1940. The growth continued until it reached its current size of 35,871 residents on November 6th 2006 according to the US Census Bureau’s estimate for Statistical Areas released that day. During World War II many servicemen from Laguna Hills served aboard USS "Halsey" which operated off Hawaii between 1941-1944 during Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor. Many local businesses were closed due to wartime shortages but some have since reopened such as CHS Credit Union which has been open since 1975 and now serves an area including portions of Corona del Rey and Mission Viejo Laguna Heights also served as ground zero for much of the Iran-Iraq war because Kuwait City was too far away for American troops to deploy effectively
