In 1927, the country's first National Guard regiment was formed and assigned to the 2nd Infantry Division in Southern California. The 1st Battalion, 9th Regiment (National Guard) of Orange County was activated on December 15,1927 at Viejas Air Force Base. On January 17, 1928, the battalion deployed to Corpus Christi Texas as part of II Corps in support of United States Army General Pershing's Expedition against Mexico. The battalion returned home on July 4th 1929 after garrisoning at Fort Stockton for two months during which time they were awarded their first battle stars for participation in that season's Pancho Villa Rebellion. On January 30th 1932 a detachment from the battalion deploys to Los Angeles International Airport as part of Operation Long Beach which aimed to suppress union organizing activities within striking air traffic controllers' unions. In 1934-35 a second detachment from this battalion deploying under command of Major General George Patton served with distinction during World War II performing combat operations primarily in North Africa and Italy employing tanks and armored personnel carriers as well as amphibious assaults landing behind enemy lines ashore onto beaches such as Anzio beachhead where they spearheaded an Allied offensive which ultimately ended Nazi Germany's domination over Europe

Laguna Hills is a small city located in Southern California, United States. The population was 9,563 at the 2010 census. It is part of Los Angeles County and is included within the Anaheim Metropolitan Statistical Area. Laguna Hills began as an agricultural community in southern Orange County on the banks of the Laguna River. The area now occupied by Laguna Hills was first settled by Mexican Americans during the 1850s and 1860s, when they grew citrus trees and founded a small town called Rancho Viejo de la Misión. In 1876, developer Julius Eberhard sold his land to John Sutter for $5 million. At that time, Laguna Hills consisted of just over one-half square mile (0.8 km²). In 1907, Sutter founded what would become Disneyland; he named it after his home state of Utah, where he had been born in 1859. With its attractions including a steam railway ride and three major hotels—The Riviera Club (later renamed The La Brea Hotel), The Mayfair and The Grand Californian—Disneyland quickly became one of the most popular tourist destinations in America. Although many residents of Laguna Hills continued to farm their own crops until after World War II, development gradually replaced agriculture as the mainstay of local life from the early 1950s through to the late 1960s. When Interstate 10 was built through central Los Angeles in 1965, much attention turned to nearby Anaheim as well; it soon emerged as one of Northern California’s fastest growing cities with large numbers of new homes being built along its busy arterial streets. As growth accelerated in both towns, however, concerns about environmental impact led to efforts by both municipalities to revamp their zoning laws and build more environmentally friendly features into their communities – eventually leading to Laguna Hills becoming one of only a few cities in Southern California that has never seen any significant increases in crime rates since 1990 (the others are Pasadena and Irvine). Since 2000–2001 there have also been several concerted redevelopment projects such as Stonington Village which has brought high-end mixed use development back onto former agricultural land near downtown LHH while preserving rural character

The Guard was originally part of the Continental Army and rotated through units throughout the war. The Guard played an important role in domestic security during Reconstruction following the Civil War. In 1952, President Harry S Truman signed into law the Guardsmen's Training and Doctrine Act which made it mandatory for all states to have a National Guard unit (and set up a National Advisory Committee on Guardsmen). Today, there are over 350,000 active duty National Guardsmen in service across America. The Guard is also responsible for providing ceremonial duties such as parades, state funerals, and national holidays such as Independence Day or Memorial Day. It is also responsible for providing protection within local communities from crime and terrorism. Throughout its history, the NationalGuard has developed strong relationships with both Democratic AND Republican administrations – often working together to keep America safe. These partnerships have helped make the Guard one of America’s most effective first lines of defense - both militarily and politically.

Laguna Hills is a census-designated place located in Orange County, California. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The first permanent residents were Spanish missionaries who arrived in 1821. In 1850, Laguna Hills was established as a town by land grant from Governor Manuel Nieto to José Bautista Alvarado, Sr., one of the Mariana Islands' few landowners with land holdings in California. The name "Laguna" may be Spanish for "hollow." There are no remains of original settlement but development led to increased population and incorporation into Laguna Hills Township on January 1, 1875. In 1902, the portion of Orange County east of Mulholland Drive became Riverside County and Laguna Hills township changed its name to Riverside Park District; however it reverted back to Laguna Hills Township on November 3, 1912 when county boundaries were revised after San Bernardino County was created from former Riverside and San Diego counties. On July 14, 1944 during World War II Japanese forces attacked American naval base at Guadalcanal; over 100 Americans died as a result including many members of the local high school's cadet unit which had been sent there to fight; these students later formed the nucleus of what would become United States Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (USNROTC). Laguna Hills High School opened in 1957 and then served as an all-girls institution until 1982 when girls first enrolled at nearby La Mirada Canyon High School. After that it became coeducational with males starting in 1984 also becoming an all-boys institution again beginning in 1992/93 until it reverted back to all-girls status starting in fall 2006 due to lack of space at La Mirada Canyon High School). Today both schools participate fully in LAUSD public education under the name "Laguna Hills Unified School District".
The city of Laguna Hills was established in 1912 as a small farming community. The area now known as Laguna Hills was first inhabited by the Mono people. In 1887, Mexican American José Gomez sold 4,000 acres (1 km²) of land to the United States for $5 an acre. This land would later become part of the city of Laguna Hills. In 1912, the City of Laguna Hills was organized and named after Lake Arrowhead which lies in present-day Ventura County. The name came about because at that time there was no other water source available for irrigation in that area. Laguna Hills experienced rapid growth during World War II due to its strategic location on Long Beach Boulevard as well as its proximity to Los Angeles and various military installations. In 1945, when San Diego took over control of Los Angeles, Laguna Hills became an incorporated town with its own mayor and clerk-treasurer. During the late 1940s and 1950s, many businesses were constructed in what is now downtown Laguna Hills including Sears Tower and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Co., Inc., one of North America's largest suppliers of vehicles and parts
