The United States Military has been present in Laguna Niguel for over 50 years. The first American military presence in the area was on December 6, 1846 when Commodore John D. Sloat's squadron of warships arrived at San Diego Bay to help defend the Mexican port of Acapulco from a Spanish galleon blockade. In 1848, the U.S. Navy established a shorestation at Rancho Viejo on the upper Sacramento River, east of downtown Laguna Niguel. It was here that Commodore John D. Sloat and his officers constructed their flagship USS Constitution (1848-49) and USS Alabama (1850-51). On January 16, 1860, President James Buchanan signed an act creating California as a free state; it became part of the Union on February 14th, 1861. By 1863, there were more than 5500 soldiers stationed in California with headquarters at Camp Roberts near Laguna Niguel. The following year saw even more troops sent to support General George Custer's attack upon Sitting Bull's Sioux tribe in Dakota Territory; during that campaign more than 100 Americans were killed and dozens wounded by Native Americans wielding bows and arrows! As World War I began, America had shortages of munitions; one solution was to import munitions from Europe through Mexico City. On October 17th 1915 Captain Alfred Teller organized an American Expeditionary Force under Rear Admiral William Halsey to enter Mexico City Harbor with twenty merchant vessels carrying large consignments of arms and ammunition destined for General Pershing's forces fighting in Europe against Serbian nationalists! This event is consideredto be one of the largest amphibious assaults ever mounted against enemy shores! After World War I ended hostilities between America and Mexico ensued which led to increased trade between both nations however some tension still lingered until 1923 when President Coolidge terminated Anglo-American Treaty Agreement No 2 which allowed for unrestricted travel between America and Mexico without prior reciprocal consent from both countries’ respective legislatures! As a result many Mexicans left Los Angeles County for various reasons such as economic instability following high commodity prices due to overproduction by American farmers while others gravitated towards Live Oak Canyon where they found work building dams along the Colorado River making it easier access water resources needed to sustain agriculture across much of Central America

The United States Army Garrison, Laguna Niguel began in 1849 as the San Diego Battalion of the California Volunteers. In 1861, it became the 2nd battalion of California Volunteers and was re-designated in 1865 as Company A, 6th Infantry Regiment. In 1868, it became Company B, 9th Infantry Regiment and in 1880 Company C, 3rd Infantry Regiment. In 1888, it became Company D, 1st Infantry Regiment and in 1892 Company E (1st Battalion), 5th Infantry Regiment. The regiment was redesignated as the 4th company of the United States Army Reserve on 1 October 1898. It ceased to be a reserve regiment on 15 September 1907 and its unit was discontinued on 31 January 1912. On 10 November 1916, the regiment was reactivated at Ft. Ord as Company F (Volunteers) with headquarters at that post. It concurrently became Companies G (2nd Battalion) and H (3rd Battalion) of Marine Corps Reserve on 14 November 1916; these companies were disbanded on 30 June 1923 when they were redesignated as Headquarters Battery (HBCT), 8th Marines before their permanent duty detachment at Camp Pendleton could be activated thereon In 1933-1934 an experimental battalion called "The Negroes" served with distinction during World War II under LtCol John Witherspoon while stationed at Camp Lejeune North Carolina
Laguna Niguel, California (formerly known as Laguna Beach) is a city in Orange County, California, United States. The population was 73,584 at the 2010 census. It is the most populous city in Orange County and the second most populous city in Southern California after Los Angeles. The City of Laguna Niguel was founded on December 12, 1886 by William Mulholland. The name originated from two places—Laguna and Niguel—both of which were originally Spanish words meaning "big bay" or "large salt marsh." In 1887, the US Navy established a naval station at Laguna Beach to service ships headed to and from Asia. This led to the town's nickname of Naval Station Laguna Beach. In 1927, it became an incorporated city under state law; it was re-incorporated as a city on March 3rd, 1951 pursuant to Proposition 13. On November 3rd of that year, voters approved Measure B Channeling Act (Measure C), which authorized construction of an expressway through downtown that would parallel State Route 1A (the main drag). The new freeway was named I-5 southward from its current terminus at State Route 382 eastward to its current terminus just north of downtown – also within walking distance for most residents. In 1978–79, approval was given for a new high school campus adjacent to I-5/SR 382 interchange close to where he now resides; this project ultimately failed due largely to opposition from nearby homeowners who wanted their property back within their original neighborhoods boundaries

Laguna Niguel is a small town located in the extremity of Southern California. The town was founded by Mexican laborers who were working on the Rancho San Felipe in 1853. The name, which means "black lagoon," comes from the black water that surrounds the community. In 1924, Laguna Niguel incorporated as a city and has since grown to become one of Southern California's most rapidly growing communities. The history of Laguna Niguel can be traced back to 1853 when Mexican laborers were sent to work on the Rancho San Felipe. The workers were paid by the acreage they worked, so it was not until after they had completed their tasks and returned home that they would receive their pay. When these men first arrived, they found that there was no water available nearby for them to bathe in or drink from. To make matters worse, local Native Americans had been living within easy distance of the area for centuries and knew how to use this natural resource to their advantage. Consequently, many of these men died during the early days of settlement because they could not find any food or water resources close by. Fortunately, things started looking up for these men soon after they arrived in Laguna Niguel proper. A man named Manuel Nieto built a small adobe cabin near present-day Main Street in 1854 and began trading goods with local Indians for fresh fruit and other necessities such as clothing and shelter. This initial success helped attract more Mexicans to Laguna Niguel; however, it also made it difficult for them to maintain good relations with local natives due to their different cultures and religions. Despite some initial problems, though, early residents of Laguna Niguel quickly realized that this isolated community could only survive if it developed its own economy based on agriculture rather than trade relationships with other parts of Mexico City or even Central America.
