The Laguna Woods Air Force Base Wing presents its Annual Christmas Gift- Exchange. This year’s exchange is taking place on Saturday, December 15th from 10am to 1pm at the Consolidated Clothing and Footwear store located in the base. This is a great opportunity for spouses of military members and civilians to come together and exchange gift items with their Air Force counterparts. This year’s exchanging has been organized by the wing’s Children’s Section, which provides opportunities for children to interact with military personnel and learn about service and sacrifice. The station also offers many fun opportunities for children during this time; such as a visit to the airmen’s library where they can pick up books about aviation or duty life. A variety of gift items are available for exchange, including clothes, toys, electronics, housewares and more. The wing will also be featuring special deals on select gifts throughout the day so make sure you stop by before supplies run out!

Laguna Woods, California is located in the San Diego metropolitan area. The population was estimated to be over 100,000 residents as of 2010. The surrounding communities are El Cajon, Mission Viejo and Santee. Laguna Woods offers a mix of natural beauty with suburban feel. The name "Laguna Woods" may come from the Acuma tahoe which rises along the southern border of the community. The name also may derive from the Laguna de la Cañada or "Lake of the Pines". In 1821 it was known as Partida de las Pulgas because there were many white pine trees near by. In 1852 Spanish missionary Father Josefina Teixeira arrived in Laguna Woods and founded a mission called Nuestra Señora de los Dolores on what is now Highway 1A east of present-day Santee Drive. A few years later Father José Angel Chavez established another mission called Nuestra Señora del Carmen on what is now Urdaneta Road northeast of present-day Saugus Elementary School. The first post office opened in Laguna Woods on December 12, 1907 with LAGUNA WOODS as its name and served until October 9, 1912 when SAN DIEGO became an incorporated city and LAGUNA WOODS became part of that city's Municipal District No. 3 (now section 522 ZIP code). It remains one of only two post offices still open in San Diego County after annexation by City Hall on April 15, 1904 (the other being La Jolla). On July 8, 1916 Bishop James Gibbons announced that all missions in Southern California had been closed due to World War I and conversion into military bases; therefore, all religious orders were dissolved within two weeks at Fort MacArthur beachhead south of San Diego Bay where their properties lay undeveloped since they had been given to individual members rather than organized groups like Catholic priests who would have buildings and land locked up awaiting their arrival for housing/tavern services etc...Afterward there was no more legal way for Catholics to purchase land so chapels/missions continued to operate autonomously...This caused much grievance among some people who felt like they had been taken advantage of." From 1925 until 1961 Lagunta woods was home to Naval Air Station Imperial Valley; during this time mahogany wood furniture went into wide use Navy Yard armory built at White Sands Missile Range
Air Force Deployed Gift History: The United States Air Force has a long and proud history of sending gifts to friends and allies around the world. Some of the items that have been sent over the years include cigarettes and cigars from United States Tobacco Company; beer from Anheuser-Busch Brewery; clothes from Sears Roebuck & Co.; and books from Funk & Wagnalls Corporation. In some cases, these gifts were even more personal - for example, cigarettes were given as premiums to airmen who participated in Operation Neptune's Spear or groceries were donated to local military bases in order to help with food shortages during that time period. The USAF deployed gift history system is an important part of our culture and it allows us to show our support not just online but also in person. Laguna Woods is a small town in California, located on the eastern edge of San Bernardino County. The population was 1,853 at the 2010 census. Laguna Woods is part of the Victorville Metropolitan Area. The first people to live in what is now Laguna Woods were Native Americans who hunted and gathered plants and fruits near present-day Redlands. In 1839, Spanish missionaries established a mission here, which served as a base for trade with the Mexican empire. A few years later, American settlers arrived and began building homes around Mission San Gabriel Arcángel. In 1866, Charles HalseyWilson founded William Wilson Associates sugar Refinery here in order to produce sugar beets for export to Europe and China. The refinery continued production until it closed in 1957. Today only ruins remain from the refinery: a large chimney still stands as evidence of its former activity; an access road leads visitors up through a dense forest to see the remains of buildings that once stood there; and an orange grove lies nearby undeveloped.
